Star Citizen Free Fly Next Week

Cloud Imperium Games announces the Invictus Launch Week 2952 event will get underway on May 20th in Star Citizen, giving the chance to see what over a decade of development and hundreds of millions of dollars can buy. The event kicks off on of the free-fly periods for the crowdfunded space game where you can fly a bunch of its ships for free. This page has all the details. Here's a summary:
This year, Stanton’s main Invictus Launch Week celebration is located among the clouds of Crusader - a truly rarified venue that matches this truly spectacular event.

Stay tuned for more details and information as we get closer to launch, and add Invictus to your calendar so you don’t miss the Naval fleet’s triumphant return to the Stanton system.

During the Invictus Launch Week event, Star Citizen will be free to download and play. So both newcomers and veterans can experience the ‘verse and take to the skies in over 100 ships for free.

My view is that Mr. Tact in no way misquoted me. He left my whole quote there, just with a strike out and then an obvious addition of two words to make a joke.

If someone reported that I really feel sorry for them.

And as Mr. Tact said, he even removed my name from the quote .... wow.

edit: Post 42!

I guess we are, and I am actually sorry about it. But typing a slightly altered version of something someone else typed without any attribution hardly qualifies as "misquoting". The ironic thing is I am at least partially responsible for this rule's existence.

What? Are you freaking kidding?

That really feels like a step too far. I purposely removed the previous poster's identity. It was the equivalent of me retyping their sentence, with strikeout on one word and then adding something. Not to mention it was clearly in no way a commentary on the poster. I'd appreciate an explanation as to why this needed to be removed.

For anyone who missed it, I changed "with rivers!" to "with rivers sheet physics!" Why in the world did that need to be removed? Especially since as I said I removed the attribution.
No, I'm not kidding.

To be clear, I know you didn't have bad intent, and there was nothing really wrong with the post. But we have just a few rules and you broke one of them. So now you want to add to the burden of moderation of analyzing posts that broke the rules, but should not be removed. Which will add to the moderation burden of explaining to other users why their post was removed, but someone else's wasn't. Which also adds to the moderation burden of explaining to the person who reported the post that yes, it's a violation, but no, we're not going to address it.

All so you could make your cross-out joke. Which you totally could have made without violating the simple rule.

Wow, that's amazing - He quote me and crossed a bit out and add two words to make it funny.

As the person who he "misquoted" I had no problem it at all.

Still, if that's Blues rules .....

I encourage everyone curious to try the game for free. It's really bad as a game, but as a free tech demo, it's a fun experiment. SC remains many, many years away from being what a normal person would call a game.

Almost all the money SC makes is funneled into S42, which is presumably the biggest project management failure in gaming history. We're talking Duke Nukem Forever Squared here. Total failure of leadership. The most important SC news recently (which the press have missed) is various SC dev teams being moved to work on S42, the justification being that everything from S42 will eventually filter down into SC, lol.

I could swear I heard that it was the other way around. That everything in SC would be filtered into SQ42 and that was why there was such a delay...because the unfinished systems of Star Citizen needed to be done to port over to SQ42. Confused
Same, and the updates seem to back this up, describing improvements to the persistent universe, not S42. I think we get a S42 specific email once every two months, vs the weekly PU emails.

Wow I looked it up and this game was announced in October of 2012! Wacky Laugh2

My condolences to those who pre-ordered.

Pre-ordering is funny - people who then doubled down on Chris Roberts the Clown and brought $100 to $2500 pre-orders for DLC to unfinished game are just dumb.

LOL, that's small potatoes. There's a ship pack for 35 000$... that you can only buy if you have already been scammed for 25 000$ because you need to be "Legatus Navium" which I guess is Latin for "biggest gullible tool ever".

Has anyone here on Blue's ever try to fly one of those massive cargo ships?

Flying the Carrack is fun. Flying the A2, C2 or M2 Hercules is actually not too bad, either. I even landed in a Lorville hangar without using the external camera, first time, using keyboard and mouse. Can't comment on HOTAS as, while I have the equipment, I haven't bothered reaching under the desk to mount them.

Oh yeah, running Star Citizen on an RX 480 4GB at 1920x1080 can be a chore, especially on Hurston and microTech.
Other than that, and a few bugs here and there, I get enjoyment from playing by myself or with folks in parties.
