World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Beta Signups

Blizzard announces Dragonflight is the next expansion for World of Warcraft, showing it off with a new Cinematic Trailer. It's not clear when this will officially take flight in the MMORPG, but the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Website offers beta signups for those looking to take part in testing. Here's word:
The dragons of Azeroth have played a central role in the world’s affairs, guiding the mortal races and influencing events with their considerable power—occasionally for their own ends. As their sacred broodlands reawaken, the dragons will call on the heroes of the Alliance and Horde to help reckon with the threats and mysteries that are beginning to surface.

This coming from the company that is so innovative that they just said "fuck it, let's just release the old game again."

It also has a pre-trailer trailer.

You mean the game that the gamer's BEGGED for, created their own servers for, and Blizzard finally agreed to, and it's making money hand over fist?

Huh, I liked it. Most of their trailers - while amazing - are pretty grim. This one was totes positive. Who wouldn't want to be a dragon tear-assing all over the world? The golem seemed pretty happy he was rescued.

I'm actually back playing as of 2 days ago. Managed to pick up a 60 day time card for $20 which sure beats the $19 per month they're asking - 17.50 for 3, and 16.34 per 6. That's just way too much for a game this old. Still, I've been hankerin for some classic MMO play for a while now and it really scratches that itch. Have to do all Legion stuff with my main - gonna unlock the new races - then do one for Kul Tiras. Then I'll see about picking up a cheap Shadowlands key and doing that.

I wasn't holding my breath for anything great but boy did they come out stumbling.

I don't know that I was expecting to be blown away by it, but I was excited to see what they were going to do to try and woo people like me back to the game after Shadowlands faceplanted. I wanted to see something that made me want to come back.

That didn't happen. The best feature of the expansion is to make a mount that works like, and even has the same animations as, the mount I already have in Guild Wars 2...the game that I went to play instead of theirs. It looks like it flies just like a GW2 griffon and has the animations stolen directly from GW2's skyscales. I mean...wtf.

After the last couple of years of Blizzard it's hard to be disappointed because everyone knows they already hit rock bottom. This looks like an expansion made by a company that's still at rock bottom, to the point where I'm not even upset...just sad, I guess.

Didn't really feel like a WoW trailer. Felt like it could have been anything, really. Alexstrasza showing up at the end in dragon form barely counts, as she doesn't really stand out.

The cinematic trailer really tells me nothing about the story itself. Dragons. I guess that's not a bad thing though because Blizzard doesn't seem to know anything about stories either so maybe it gives them an open-ended outlook to not get locked down in the utter nonsense they've been glued to for the last two expansions. Also, I thought in Cataclysm the dragons gave up their magic to empower the dragon stone?

Also, those dragon races look like they're about 15 years too late but then you can look at the Dragonkin from Vanilla and realize that even by those standards they look like utter garbage.

I wasn't holding my breath for anything great but boy did they come out stumbling.

I thought it was kind of cool, although I'm not that familiar with the lore beyond the WC RTS series.

Blizzard Cinematics have always been a treat (Diablo, WoW, Overwatch), and quite amazing. This was none of those things.

You don't need to know the WC3 lore, but go watch the Mist of Pandaria cinematic, and you'll see what I mean.

This looked straight up terrible, might be the first expansion in the history of the game, that I'll actually skip.

The fact that you never seen a player at all seems terrible, but they have probably done that before. I make no claims to be an expert on WoW lore, but I did play all the RTSs and WoW for about eight years. And I found nothing in that trailer familiar, or particularly interesting...
