In theory they aren't, but don't try to sell me this, man. 60fps feels a lot like 60hz and the other way around and the difference is maybe only noticeable with a direct comparisson. But maybe more in input lag than anything else.
You're calling an fps cap a minor gripe. To me, it's a major issue right up there with a narrow field of view. The moment fps drops below 80, I immediately notice it and my joy drops by 60%. 60fps (even on 144hz, which does nothing because the cap bottlenecks) feels to me like horrendous performance.
Also, I haven't invested 1500 bucks on a gaming rig to play fps capped games. This shit should be unacceptable, yet not a single reviewer gives a shit.
So you didn't even start to game until 120hz monitors were invented?
Once you're used to something better, taking a step back sucks. This is nothing new and shouldn't need explaining. The 60fps cap is laziness; it's not giving a shit because your cult following has people like me needing to defend their stance that an fps cap is fucking bullshit -- on a PC gaming community full of entitled motherfuckers from the master race like myself, no less!
