Bethesda Retiring Game Launcher

Bethesda announces its contribution to clearing up the glut of game launchers will be to retire the Bethesda.net Launcher this year. Word is beginning in April, players will be able to migrate games and wallets to Steam:
We’re saying goodbye to the Bethesda.net Launcher this year. We would like to thank you for your support and assure you that all of your games are safe. If you’re not playing PC games through the Bethesda.net launcher then your work is done here. Thanks for reading! If you do have games through the Bethesda.net launcher, don’t worry. Starting in early April you’ll be able to migrate your games and Wallet to your Steam account. For more details on what this process will look like, read on.

You have plenty of time to plan and begin migrating your Bethesda.net library to your Steam account. The migration to Steam will include your game library and Wallet – meaning you will not lose anything from your Bethesda.net account. Many games will also have their saves migrated, with a few requiring some manual transfers. For games that require it, you will still use your Bethesda.net login to sign in to play. Your Bethesda.net account will not be lost and will still be accessible on our website and in-game, and we will continue supporting all Bethesda.net accounts with our future titles.

Good. Bethesda never fixed the issue with the launcher forgetting your password every few weeks.
It wasn't a bug. It was a feature, a security feature.

And the EPIC launcher does exactly the same stupid shit, only it asks you to also solve one of those "pick out all the things from a grid of 12 images" bullshit captchas...

I use My Collection at IsThereAnyDeal for keeping track because you can manually add the odd game that is not at GOG, Steam, Origin, Epic that is a direct download from some other source.

I like GOG Galaxy to browse my collection because of it's nice display of game box art, but not as a launcher as it is so bloated and takes forever to load for me.

Good point about Microsoft, me thinks this got slipped by the new overlord as a done deal pior to buy out, but MS will eventually force it over to their walled garden.

Does anyone else use the gog launcher to keep track of their game library? Its rough around the edges but for me it has worked out great. I haven't bought the same game twice since I got it. Being able to see what I have access to with a Gamepass, Playstation, Humble Bundle, etc subscriptions is cool.

While the Bethesda Launcher was far from cool (or even necessary), it was never the pain in the ass that the Ubisoft and Origin launchers can be every other patch or so. I would have preferred that they used GOG, but I get it. TBH, it could have been Steam, Epic, or GOG and I would have been just fine. I am just surprised it wasn't done through Gamepass or something else tied to MS.

Good. Bethesda never fixed the issue with the launcher forgetting your password every few weeks. Or at least the developers were too lazy to fix the issue. Also got tired of seeing those annoyingly stupid Wolfenstein characters prominently displayed every time the launcher loaded up. Also found no way to replace the marketing splash screen, which is another great reason the launcher will be gone.

Shouldn't it all migrate into the PC GamePass launcher ? ...not Steam.

I'm sure that's in the pipe, 5x5.

If only Steam wasn`t privately owned has no shares and does answer to shareholders.

Oh no. We gamers love launchers! As many as possible! And all have to be started simultanously!
No, really. Launchers cannot die quickly enough.

No monopolies, thanks. But not every single company needs their own launcher. If you've only got your own games on your launcher, and you can count those without taking off your shoes, you don't need your own launcher.

Eh I'd rather have company related news and ads (for their games or dlcs) posted in the game app itself than add yet another launcher. I actually like it that companies notify their gamers through news menu items or unobtrusive news ticker bars.

Games such as RAGE 2 and Fallout 76 were exclusive to it for a while... Probably wasn't the best time to launch it.
