Out of the Blue

I have a fun mission today. Our friends are out of town as they work towards moving away from here permanently (*sniff*), and they need someone to clear Jedi the Jindo out of their house for a showing later. I'm getting all sorts of brownie points for my willingness to drive down and do this. But that dog and I adore each other, and I'm always happy for the chance to see him. And since the weather abruptly shifted this week, the local forecast calls for near record high temperatures. So it will be easy enough to take him for a walk, and a fine time will be had by all. And as much as we don't want our friends to abandon us, I'll try to resist the urge to sabotaging their home to ruin the showing. Probably.

Brownie Point Round-up
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.

They're good for six months, and yeah, lots of people already get flu vax once a year, once every six months isn't that much more of an imposition. Particularly if/when a nasty new strain arrives. I'm all for the anti-vaxxers not vaxxing - against anything. Can't cull them from the gene pool too soon.

At least you admit the vax doesn't stop transmission.

You need better sources of news than YouTube and social media

We also should remember that because they reduce symptoms, they prevent spreading, because you are, on average, coughing and sneezing for longer(without vaccine). However, the new version omnicron, seems to be so easily transmitted we may all get it no matter what. in that case, getting the vaccines are an even better idea, because it will 100% be either unvaccinated infection or vaccinated infection.

The vaccines don't prevent infection (catching or spreading), and the shots are now only effective at reducing symptoms for 4 months...you gonna get a shot every four months? Sheesh.

The vaccines are by no means perfect- If we could make them perfect, we would. but they GREATLY reduce symptoms, so basically they prevent you from dying or ICU with covid. The effect wears off some over time, yes, but less so for more doses. we might , in the end need 4, 5 or 6 doses, who knows, but its the best weapon against the virus we have.. Its like saying "why doesnt the plane move at lightspeed, getting there will take HOURS, sheesh!. Well, its the fastest thing we have.. so..

I made my onion dip with Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, and intend to eat it with carrot sticks and steamed broccoli. That's my plan.

While this evaluation of the benefits of the black plague is somewhat accurate it doesn't necessarily follow we'd get a similar result this time around. I'd be willing to bet a 30-60 percentage reduction of the population would collapse society as we know it. There are lots of little cogs holding things together, as the supply chain issues have clearly demonstrated. What we have seen to date would be insignificant compared to the interruption which would follow the loss of that much population.

Cold as it may sound this rock is vastly overpopulated and needs a serious culling of our species. These things are also necessary for progress of the species. 'Highly pathogenic' bird flu hits U.S. farm

I recently read that this is a weekly occurrence in the US (and across the globe) on all types of farms. Mostly birds, but also pigs and cows.

We're only all still alive due to luck more or less. It's really time time to stop all animal agriculture before the luck runs out. As a population anyway, but many farmers weren't so lucky, dying of these deadly viruses, which is usually what tips off the CDC.

H5N1 is not pandemic worthy since its not particularly contagious. But it won't take too long before it would become highly contagious one enough humans get it, or if it hits a pig farm where the lungs of a pig are similar to humans, and then easily jumps to us, with its 50/50 mortality rate, and it's new virility. Experts suggest it'll be billions dead, the only thing stopping it will be that it burns through humans so fast it will make itself extinct, by running out of hosts.

We apparently didn't learn anything from the Spanish flu or COVID, or the last time H5N1 made the rounds, so maybe a few bullion deaths will do it? I really hope they ban bird farming asap. I like my life far more than KFC
