Grand Theft Auto Community Update from Rockstar Games discusses Grand
Theft Auto V. This outlines details on the upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox
Series X|S editions of the open world crime game. Also, recognizing that
continuing to discuss the future of a game released nine years may be frustrating
for fans of the series, the post finally officially admits that active
development of Grand Theft Auto VI is "well underway." A

says more will be shared "soon." In the meantime, here's word:
With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.

Anyone want to bet on whether they fix their clunky control scheme or not for the next game? Anyway, it will be interesting to see the game in 2030

Meh, I never finished GTA4. Barely played more than 30 minutes of GTA5. I think this is a good indicator that GTA6 will be a hard pass.

Game is designed for a controller. With exception of flying a helicopter the mouse and keyboard work just as well.

What I see on the tweet is "as soon as we are ready", not "soon", this is not the same. But I may have missed a reply further down the thread.

Considering all the yearly records are coming out of the publishers, it would be a good time to boost confidence in the company and raise stock prices (which has happened every time Rockstar has announced work on another GTA game).
The most unexpected news of this century yet. Rockstar are the grandmasters of surprises.

Please not another 'modern day' game. Do another period piece like Vice City or San Andreas. Or go for 70s, when cars were characters in every third TV show.

Not really, and some of the characters in GTA5 are insanely non-woke, if anything.
I do feel, however, that if they steer too much away from the over-the-top stories GTA is known for, to become softer and more PC, it will hurt the reception of the game with its fans much more than messing with the gameplay formula ever will. Reviewers would love it though
