Out of the Blue

Happy birthday Dolly Parton. The country music star/humanitarian turns 76 today. Dolly embodies perseverance. Howso? She's been married for 56 years and has been in show business for 66 years. Here's hoping this pattern holds, and she's with us for another 76.

I didn't believe it.

You didn't believe it? Ask yourself how long I spent looking at consonants before entering my final guess, haha

Also, I know I didn't reuse the green from the first guess, but was drawing a blank so three entirely new letters out, since I already knew that was green and wouldn't guess the word in 2, anyway.

As with yesterday, the solution was one of the considerations after guess two. But there were too many possible words, so I tried to do some letter elimination on the third guess.

I missed on "aegis," which I thought was a pretty good starter word for a newbie.
I went for the rest of the common vowels on my second word with "touch."
So I knew there was probably another "o" in the fourth position, and the third or fifth letter was "t."
So I figured it was either motor or robot and I missed the coin-toss.
Whatever
That's a mighty pretty starter word, shame if something were to happen to it.
I can tell you are going to be a worthy adversary.
Here's how i slid (lucked) into the answer, spoilerz below:

Me either, it was more of a an educated lark considering I had the first letter (and what turned out to be the second letter) along with the others that were ruled out.

I probably wouldn't have tried it if not for the discussion the other day.

125 years old.
1. Some of your children will be dead.
2. Many of your wives will have died.
3. You will have gotten to attend the funerals of your parents, your brothers and sisters and some of their offspring.
4. You will have outlived everyone you ever cared about.

No one is chomping at the bit to live that old.

Betty White said she doesn’t bother with the usual healthy foods. β€œI try to avoid anything green,” she explained. β€œI think it’s working.”
She lived to be a few days short of 100.

Wow, I didn't know masks were "free".

Would the birds be congregating there if they didn't have easy access to food? What's going on with the local garbage situation? Why not just start dumping bird seed on the outskirts of town to lure them away?

Better than more plastic we should be doing going for ecopulping recycling straw into packaging. Caught this vid on YT once and it blew me away. This would be a fantastic business venture in any of the wheat belts.
Thailand: Turning straw into gold

That's pretty impressive. It the packaging made from the straw can hold up to over 2 hours of food usage, it would be great for fast food places. Now we just need to grow rice in the US for the rice straw.

Not really. You are looking at average life expectancy from birth. The average in the 1860s was indeed around 40 years, but only because infant and childhood mortality from illness drove it way down. People who survived to adulthood tended to continue surviving WELL past their 40s.

The idea that man should live longer and longer does not exist anywhere else in nature, it's wholly a human belief and unsustainable.
If everyone makes it to 125+ (why stop at 125, why not shoot for 145 or 175) , the world will be a grossly overpopulated and polluted planet with billions vying for space in megacorp for-profit nursing homes.
In other words, Hell.

I for one don't look forward to the new retirement age of 87, you might.

Lol what a bad way to view things. Increasing life expectancy generally works for everyone. Maybe YOU don't want to live that old, but I would certainly pick it for myself and others.
