Out of the Blue

As I noted last year for the first go-round, the NFL doesn't always make the best decisions, but whoever thought up Super Wild Card Weekend deserves a raise. A couple of wild games yesterday (damn, Buffalo!), and we have three more today and one more tomorrow. Along the way I learned that picking those pesky prop bets seems a lot harder than picking the winners. Who knew?

This week I'm down 3 pounds and 8 pounds for the past month—45 total pounds in 120 days (since September 18th). I also started to notice my XL pants were too loose. I'm using the last hole on a belt to hold them up, but at some point, I'll need to downgrade to L.

Congrats you skinny bitch. I'll make sure to put a life vest on you if we walk onto anyone's deck so ya don't fall through the slats

Congrats! Weight loss has always been difficult for me, best wishes.

Thank you. It's a pretty simple plan—one meal a day, low/no sugar (I shoot for 0 mg but try to keep it under 5 mg max daily), and no processed foods. I also try and get 8 hours of sleep every night. It's incredible how much weight I lose while I sleep. I'm sure there's a scientific study for that. 🙂

Diet makes up 65% of weight loss. While it has internal benefits, exercise is not an ideal weight loss solution. For example, which do you think will lose more weight? A.) A person who spends two hours exercising then eats a pizza and two other meals throughout the day plus snacks or B.) a person who eats just one meal a day that doesn't contain sugar and isn't processed food. The other day, an overweight person (~240ish) in Chipotle looked like he had worked out (he had sweat on the back of his neck and was wearing exercise clothes). I watched as he ordered a double-tortilla steak burrito with EVERYTHING (it was so big they had to use two pieces of aluminum to wrap it). I'm pretty sure he ended up gaining weight, and he'll wake in the morning and conclude, "this exercising thing isn't working. I quit!"
Even running 50 miles a week, I found it hard to get under 170 because I kept eating the same way and having a beer with dinner.

Peer Review has gone the way of public discourse post Internet+230 ubiquity.

Prior to the Internet+230 bad/stupid ideas were less likely to spread due to the gate keepers of media ignoring it in favor of good/smart ideas.

Now the Internet thanks to the MotherZucker and his ilk, goes out of it's way to identify gullible folk, and then send them the worst/stupidest/sensational ideas the F*ckUbook algorithms can find.

Thanks 230.

Congrats. I've never found weight loss to be too difficult...keeping it off however. I was utterly amazed that I lost 10lbs in Europe over a month. I guess that's what comes from eating clean, not really drinking booze, and walking everywhere 10+ hours a day.

I agree. Weight loss is relatively easy. Keeping it off is hard. That's why I do one meal a day (also called OMAD), low/no sugar (max 5-6 mg a day), and no processed foods. It's a pattern of eating that appears to work for me. 🙂

While I agree it's a total waste to destroy a classic aircraft like that, the movie and TV industry destroys perfectly good things for entertainment all the time. What's definitely not cool is how he did it: not applying for the proper permits and nor adhering to safety regulations for performing such actions.

The FAA has confirmed it’s investigating the circumstances of a video purporting to show the November crash of a 1940 Taylorcraft posted by YouTuber Trevor Jacob. “The FAA is investigating this event,” the agency said in a statement. “The agency does not discuss open investigations.”

Meanwhile, here's a vid of an actual emergency with real engine trouble (well, propeller trouble to be accurate).
