Dying Light 2 Getting At Least 5 Years of Support

This tweet promises at least five years of post-launch support for Dying Light 2: Stay Human. It was recently noted that the zombie survival sequel would include (after all, it takes time to play through 500 hours of content). But it sounds like Techland is just getting started:
Want to know what will happen AFTER the premiere? We guarantee to expand the world of Dying Light 2 Stay Human for at least 5 years post launch with new stories, locations, in-game events and all the fun stuff you love!

Seriously. These guys are(or at least were) surprisingly anti-mod for their previous games. It almost felt like they were personally insulted by people making weapon durability mods, they kept updating the game to break those.
Did the developers actually come out and say that they were anti-modding?

It's not the developers responsibility to make sure that mods don't break when they release a game patch. That would be the modders responsibility.

That’s what I would expect. Thanks for taking the time to post it. Thumbsup

I loved the movement, world and a lot of combat aspects of Dying Light and what the hell was their first game, Dead Island? But holy shit do I hate that your weapons break so quickly. Guns didn't by the way, so there goes their realism argument.

Anyway, I'll most ilkely get Dying Light 2 assuming the post release reviews are favorable.

I was very disappointed that no new quests were added Dying Light. That's all they added was costumes, and skins, challenges, and crap. There were a few new weapons like the silenced pistol with no bullets, but meh. All I wanted was a npc to ask me to do something for them.

They could offer zero years of content updates and I'd be fine with it as long as the game doesn't feel unfinished at release. Extra content is always a bonus in my book.

if the game is good, developer no need to make a claim like this. I still playing Killing Floor 2 and Tripwire is still making new content for the last 5 years.

Well, lately they're mostly just approving community-made maps for integration with the game -- Tripwire actually made only 13 of the 25 maps added in the past five years according to the official wiki. They've gradually shifted away from doing the work themselves and relying more on free submissions throughout the time since the game first released in 2015. I.e. in the first two years they made 8 out of 12, the last two years they made 4 out of 12.

I love Killing Floor, it's tons of fun, but most of their post-launch support has been loot box cosmetics and pay-to-win weapons.

That's good to hear seeing as it'll probably take that long to get a new video card in order to play this.
