Well, FWIW, thanks for the enlightening post to Optic Nerve. Contrary to the bigspender dude I don‘t really have a problem with toxic masculinity but just with the dumb brute Ahaggahuggahhuggahaggah warrior bullshit. It‘s just tired and lame to me at this point. The family father son sob story sounds really weird in that regard. The banging chixx mini game stuff sounded way more interesting but that was another game in the series if I understood you guys correctly?
Oh well, too many games and too little time so this one is most likely a pass for me. It just doesn’t sound appealing at all.

Yeah, I was debating about if what I've said were big spoilers or not but if you play the game's intro for the first 10- 30 minutes or even watched some of the trailers, basically the whole plot that I've described is revealed to you through the dialog and acting/mo-cap. There's a LOT more involved (and major surprising spoilers that I've yet to mention) but the whole game boils down to it basically being a bonding journey between a father and son.

In a way, I kind of understand the assumptions of this God of War game since the original PS2 games were pretty basic in Kratos characterization. He was an angry Spartan who violently killed monsters and Gods and there were even minigames where you were banging women. That's probably why IMO this new God of Wars works so brilliantly because it's the same violent and angry dude who is now older and is TRYING to be a better person to his son but just doesn't know how to do it yet.

Its not 2005 any more. At least half the PR buzz about the original console game was about a few snippets of soft porn (just like other linear RPG/action games from mid 2000 to 2010 - Mass Effect, Dragon Age Origins etc. aimed at hormone engorged "yoots") long before porn became ubiquitous.

This looks to be the same old, same old console gruel of linear game play, cut scene, dialog, boss fight, occasional soft porn scene, rinse and repeat.

A glorified 30 minute Saturday morning animation for the short attention spanned.

I have yet to see a single reason to play this on PC.

People still complaining about toxic musculinity when talking about a GOD OF WAR game? Wtf are you doing here? It's like complaining about too much pee-pee on pee-pee action while watching gay porn.

I swear, anyone who takes the effort to bitch about brute manly warriors when talking about GOD of WAR is immediately labeled as too "woke" to reason with. So keep 'em coming. I'll use these GoW threads to update and add to my list of ppl not to interact with in the future.

I'm guessing you both haven't seen much media about this new God of War series. Yes Kratos was/is a pretty violent and simple brute but this series is ALL about an older, reclusive Kratos who is now a father trying to connect with his not-so-much-a-warrior son after his wife passes away. It also deals with a son trying to meet the lofty expectations of his warrior father after he constantly fails to live up to his initial expectations as well as a father who has known nothing but war and violence trying to connect and show more humanity with his young son who needs him now more than ever. Yes there's a lot of monster and boss slaying but the core of the game and storyline is about the adventures of a father and son who have nothing in common trying to understand and bond together with their grief after the loss of a wife and mother as they try to fulfill her final wish.

This was a really nice update on the God of War themes and systems. It's 40$ in a lot of places right now.
Play on hard for a nice challenge.

amazing game. worth every penny if you haven't played it yet.

I will buy it for PC eventually, but since I have it on PS4 I can wait for the sale.

God of War is a must have.

Working my way through Chorus right now which is a surprisingly great little game. I don't usually really play third person space games because I'm more a of a from the cockpit type of dude but it has really intense atmosphere and the battles and psychic powers are tight.

This game was a GOTY for many people. Playing it, it feels very polished. I can understand "waiting" if you have already played it on PS, otherwise it is worth the $50.

It's absolutely worth $30-$35, but $50 seems a hair steep unless you've been dying to play it. It's a top-tier game with a sort-of open world, but it absolutely isn't another Ubi game. The open world part won't even show up for HOURS. I may pick it up on PC at some point, but oh boy do I have a huge backlog that I'm finally actively going through. Part of that backlog was Ghost of Tsushima, which runs at 60FPS on PS5 without the "PS5 upgrade". Absolutely fantastic, I hope it ends up part of these PC ports so more people can play it. The primary story didn't hook me; the side stories of other people did, as did the pure FUN of its savage/graceful combat.
Unfortunately, it seems Sony only does these ports when it's going to point out that a sequel is looming, but only for the console. Ghost may never get a sequel, the story is quite complete, so...it may never see a PC release

Waiting for the mods of Macho Man Kratos and Morty beating the hell out of an unkillable Peter Griffin as Baldur.
