I'm not a fan of my mouse having hundreds of bacteria, dirt, hand oil/sweat, Cheeto Dust capturing holes that are difficult to clean and unsanitary.

Wouldn't the holes make for less surface area to contain bacteria?
There is the surface area of the inside of every hole that act as pockets for your dead skin cells and finger salsa with the edge of the hole and top acting as a scraper. The added benefits is these could be sold as gentle palm exfoliation rodents.

A smooth mouse is easily wiped clean, I wouldn't know where to begin cleaning one of these.
I bet a white one would be disgusting looking after a couple months.
