So Days Gone sold over 9 million copies and that's not enough for a sequel? I'll bet the lukewarm critical reception had something to do with it. Perhaps it sold poorly initially due to its critical reception, but sales picked up as word of mouth spread about how the game actually is pretty decent. Over time, the game has gotten the recognition I think it deserves, especially after the Steam release. It's a great game. I loved both Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima, but of those two games I would prefer a sequel to Days Gone.

This is really sad. This guy needs to quit his whining (I'm pretty sure he's the same one that complained "buy the game at full price!!1" after it was offered free on PS Plus).

Now...he takes some completely unrelated [and well deserved] celebratory news for Sucker Punch, and piggybacks on that to complain about Days Gone not getting a sequel?

I'm honestly shocked it sold 9 million copies. I'm sure the fact that it was heavily discounted after it's shoddy, buggy release factors into those sales numbers.

Sorry bud, you made a decent game, but it was yet another in a tired genre with average mechanics and voice acting that would be more fitting in a PS1 game.

In short, GTFO. Pathetic.

I enjoyed days gone, probably a better "far cry" game than far cry, with zombies. Story was decent enough. I guess some people hated the "biker" concepts and thought the game would center around various stereotypes.

No, it's not the same guy. I didn't see any whining there at all but ok.

I stand corrected on that part. Still whining pretty damn hard here.

I played Days Gone for a bit but I felt like I was playing State of Decay with a theme pack. I don't remember anything about it being particularly remarkable and I couldn't tell you who the characters were because they were so forgettable.

I'm definitely not a fan of those scumbags but the protagonist in Dying Light was a total douchebag and I loved that game. I'll give it a go at some point.

Did you get far enough into the game to encounter a horde nest? Taking out hordes was a ton of fun and always a challenge. I'd never seen zombie hordes like that in a game before (not counting L4D as it's a completely different type of game). Regarding the characters... yea there are some good characters and story beats, but that's mostly later in the game. So I won't argue that point. Unfortunately the protagonist is not very likable but he did grow on me after a while.

Read the reviews & ratings- never bought it.
Steam sale comes around & my son bought it for me... I am actually shocked at how good it is. yes, the main guy is kind of a douche biker numerous times. But there is a lot of story content, cutscenes , character development , twisting allegiances ,action, rpg-lite , etc....
It is Far-Cry esque' ..... better than several Far Cry's have been. It's very worth your time .

Days Gone is one of the greatest sleeper hits in my gaming life, lol.

I also picked it up on steam sale with zero knowledge about it. I fired it up and thought it was meh for a bit but had fun enough mechanics to stick with it. Once you get to a certain part of the story which I would say is probably a good 20 hours deep, it kicks from average to epic. I've had a blast with the game and I'm currently trying to hit 100% achievements.

The story really picks up in the second half as do the characters. While I initially thought the main character was forgettable (kind of reminded me of Brandon Frasier from the Mummy, lol), you begin to feel for him more in the second half when it takes a dramatic turn.

The actual mixture of zombies to humans were great and enjoyed the stealth elements a lot even if they were pretty basic. It just has a satisfying feel to the way everything is performed, even if you get the exploits down pat. I also have to say, taking down hordes is one of the most satisfying gaming elements I've ever experienced. The game is superb and I'm quite disappointed that there is no sequel in the works. It totally caught me off guard. For those that probably didn't like it either played it on PS4 and in a buggy state or just didn't give it enough time (which I can see happening). I've just experienced it pretty much bug free and got to the point where the story kicks into overdrive and then you don't want it to end.

This Days Gone discussion is making me want to fire the game up again to try for 100% achievements. I miss playing the game. I'm not sure I can do it though. It's a real bitch on hardest difficulty (Survival Mode II I think). No fast traveling and minimal UI right? Love the game but I'm not sure I have it in me to go for 100%. Would be quite a challenge.

You don't have to do survival mode for that one, Hard II also works. But either way is super easy if you're carrying over all your stuff into New Game+ so you can get that achievement at the same time. I blew through NG+ Survival II in 6-8 hours just sticking to required story quests... Getting a gold medal on all the challenges took more time and effort, IIRC.

Ah right I was thinking of starting fresh but NG+ wouldn't be too bad. I might give it a go then, thanks.

I legitimately do not remember. I'll give a game up to four hours to hook me (which in my world is a considerable amount of free time). If it fails to do so, I abandon it. So if it doesn't happen in that first four hours, I probably did not.

That's fair. If a game doesn't hook you in after 4 hours, it's a problem. The game does get progressively better as it goes on but it is not a short game and really takes it time in the beginning.

Exactly how I felt about Days Gone. Everything about it felt dated.
