America. The country where anyone can buy enough weapons and ammo for "personal use" to equip a small army, but where games depicting school hostage incidents are taboo! Gotta love the inherent hypocrisy in that
Team17 is a British company, not an American one
SWAT teams are American, dummy. Come on keep up!
I can't tell if that's sarcasm, but the company that decided this was not worth publishing was British. So this is a British issue, not an American one. School shootings are. This particular decision is not.
But people whine as if Team17 killed the game, not just decided someone else should publish it.

At the end of the day IF they decided to back out publishing the game because there is a planned school shooting map that will be introduced then how can ya blame them? At the end of the day, you do what's best for the company and the company image (unless you're Activision/Blizzard).
So lets play devil advocate.... DOOM, GTA, Call of Duty have been the poster childs of blame for child violence. Microsoft Flight Simulator was included in the blame for 9/11. If they do produce a school shooting level, and if it has kids that can be shot, it's gonna cause a shitshow of publicity. It'll probably be labeled as a "school shooting simulator", and even the game's title will be a talking point by talking heads on TV.
I can see both sides of the discussion, but I wouldn't want to involve my company with it.

LOL my point proven beautifully. Even discussion is banned, even though I was not taking a side, merely describing the problem.
Regardless, happy holidays everyone, and fingers crossed for those RTX 3080 Ti in your stockings! :-)
The word is banned here, because Blue has freedom of expression on his platform, but we're still discussing it. You were discussing it when you said discussion is banned.

Won't someone think of the children? /sarcasm
Even playing as the people who are stopping the school shooting is bad now? I would expect that the controversy would be good publicity.
But I guess we live in a world where Even telling people not to use the word "* REMOVED *" gets you cancelled because you said the word.
Looks like the 'Regressive leftists' and the Twitter mobs have spread their voldermort mentality in the real world. You can't even discuss an issue.
Oh no, people disagree with you if you use the word you can't use even though somehow you just used it. Such oppression!
"Don't say that word!"
"What?"
"Don't say it!"
"Huh, what word?"
"Just don't say it!"
"Huh? Tell me what word I can't say."
"I can't tell you what word you can't say, just don't say it!"
That's not oppression, that's pure idiocy.
