Steam Winter Sale

The annual Steam Winter Sale is now underway, offering discounts on thousands of games between now and January 5th at 1:00 pm EST. Along with the bargains, there's a free mystery sticker giveaway offering a new giveaway every 48 hours. And since Valve is gearing up to hand out the 2021 Steam Awards, you can earn up to 10 Winter Sale Trading Cards by voting for your choices. This post has all the details:
It's open season to hunt for games and gifts in the Steam Winter Sale, where you'll catch a glimpse of the elusive Yeti and abominable savings on thousands of titles through January 5th at 10am Pacific.

Be sure to claim your free Winter gifts in the Steam Points Shop while you're at it. Every two days the sneaky Yeti or one of his wintery friends will make an appearance as a little giftie pour vous there. Stop by the Points Shop any time before the sale ends on January 5th at 10am Pacific to claim your free stickers. Got some points burning a hole in your wintery coat pocket? Then be sure to browse the Points Shop for additional Winter Goodies on sale now.

It's also time to cast your vote in the 2021 Steam Awards! The nominees for the best games of 2021 are in. Be sure to make your voice heard by casting your vote in each of the categories before January 3rd at 9am Pacific. Winners will then be revealed as soon as your votes have been tallied. Which games will go down in history as the best of 2021? It's entirely up to you!

Happy Holidays and Warm Winter Wishes, from Yeti and friends to you.

Once refund policies became a thing it totally broke the sale model. Hourly/daily sales used to be good promotional events because people would play and get their friends to play. Today however with refunds, the only thing those types of sales would do is cause the companies to lose money from refunds and buy backs at cheaper prices. So now there is only one fixed sale price for the duration of the event.

A 2 hour refund policy is a joke for most games. Hell, some games take that long just to get setup and figured out what you're doing. So no, a 2 hour refund policy is not why. Even GOG is doing flash deals.

Steam Winter Sale: It's like the Steam Autumn Sale, but a few days later.

With the Xbox Pass (soon called PC Gaming Pass I think), I almost refrain from buying any game. That pass is that sick.

The real sick sale is at EGS btw. With the 10 bucks returning coupon for every buy >$14,98. Steam is a dick.

Looking over my wishlist, the discounts are the same they've been for all the other sales for the last year. I used to look forward to the xmas sale the most, but I guess there's no point anymore. If I want something, I can buy it during the Thanksgiving (or Halloween) sale for the same price.

What really gets on my tits is how title X was on sale even cheaper at one point several years back.

I buy lots of games full price. Not that I am rich, but I can afford it and I like to support developers who produce games I love. Nobody is going to make sequels based on the number of discount sales.

I honestly don't understand how anyone will buy a 60$ game at full price . There are SO many great games at lower prices. Take Back 4Blood , I'm sure it's a great game and all , but who would fork out 60$ for it ? You can get both L4D games , Dying light, killing floor 1+2 and probably a couple of more zombie shooters and still you'll have money left over. Plus you have free bohemoths like Fortnite , valorant apex etc ,and a free game on Epic every week.. I think I have at least 10 games I own and really WANT to try but don't have time ..

I'm with this guy, you have to be rich (fine) or some kind of stupid (not fine).

CheapShark notified me that 2 games had fallen below my price point.
I got Fallout 4 GotY $9.98 and Generation Zero $4.74 from GameBillet in Great Britain.
That’s it for me this year, gotta keep the backlog well stocked. Stunned

Deathloop is fine, but IMO its not great. I find it to be confusing and poorly structured. Skillup recommends if you like deathloop to get prey moon crash. It is all the same concepts but better executed.

That being said, I saw Karryn's Prison... LOL had to pick that up.

I'm 20+ hours into Deathloop (got it when it was previously on sale). Damn good game if you're a fan of the Bioshock type games.

The game deserves GameSpot's game of the year award. Worth grabbing for half off.

Yeah I got it for 1/2 price about a month ago, I kept my expectations in check (being a BIG Dishonored fan) and I'm very surprised by it, for sure a great game, just not at full price.

I grabbed War Mongrels last week on it's weekly sale, which I'm happy was even less than now, but a fantastic Commandos clone. Having a hell of time with it!

I managed to get 48% off of Guardian of the Galaxy - Steam key from Green Man Gaming with 20% off certain titles (Square Enix mostly?). However, you need to have Green Man Gaming XP points to get the 20% off.

The sad thing is that there is absolutely nothing on sale that interests me.

Stickers and points shop freebies is nice, but it's not a flat $10 off on top of the discount price. Oh well...
