I remember when I blindly bought the original Baldur's Gate thinking it was going to be a Diabloesque game. Was excited to see it was like 6 discs long and had the isometric view. Boy what a disappointment, lol. As a non-D&D fan or knowing anything about it prior to buying the game, I had no idea it was D&D style. I was very disappointed and recall barely getting anywhere in the game. I just didn't like it much. To this day, I never attempt to try another game similar to it.

Emulated, you get instant savestates anywhere, and save yourself from redoing some jumping parts, etc.
*And* play both DA games.

By the looks of it, they didn't even use the best console version (Xbox) at the time

If this kind of thing is what you're looking for I'd probably go with Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous or Divinity OS II - both will give you a better gameplay experience and better value.

I'm currently 30 hours in to FFXII on Switch, which suits me fine since I spent 8 years playing FFXI online in the oldest US Guild in the game. But that one is really an Excel spreadsheet with cute characters superimposed. Don't go there unless you love math. Cthulhu

I picked this up awhile back on sale for $23.99 on Switch. It's a great Switch game, and I had never played it before. I doubt I'll pick it up on PC.

The price is stupid. Eventually it'll drop to the 2.49-4.99 range it belongs in. 2001. This could be an HD remaster and that price would be a joke.

I'm not sure who they think will buy this. It was a great game 21 years ago. You can't release a 2 decade old game with zero updates and enhancements and ask people to pay $30 bucks for it.

Oh yeah, they said hold my beer.

Put D&D Dark Alliance and Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance together for the Dark Alliance: Ultimate Failure of 2021.

Yup, I saw the price and just laughed. Then I read its a weak port with no graphical updates. I think I still have the disc for this for the original xbox, somewhere in a storage box.

And btw, there is nothing wrong with third edition rules, I happen to like them and its the exact same rules Neverwinter Nights uses.

Yeah I thought this was a new game with the same name, not a rerelease. Which is kinda better but also worse. 3rd edition is fine but it doesn't make sense to release a new game without using your current rules.

Man, they totally dropped the ball on this release. No online Coop, only shared split screen, Gag me!!

It doesn't even look like the remaster any of the graphics either, such a shame, and yes, I also think DA 2 was a better game.

Heroes of Dungeons and Dragons was a really good game too, I hope someone ports that one over.

And btw, there is nothing wrong with third edition rules, I happen to like them and its the exact same rules Neverwinter Nights uses.

Diablo'ish, yep but less complex than even Diablo 1 (example: loot and loot drops aren't even random). I owned it in 01/02 on the GC. I remember enjoying it at the time quite a bit. I recently, last year, played it again through "alternative" means. It did not hold up at all; I can't recommend it for $33.99 CAD. Deep steam sale, sure.

imo, the 2nd one was far better. In Dark Alliance 2, you could multi-class, and upon beating the game, were given a 2nd class to specialize in that wasn't available in the main game, letting you play a harder new game plus mode as a cross-class. For instance, the Barbarian became a Druid/Barbarian and started learning druid magic.
