Not all that concerned. Tencent is just buying up studios outside China as investments, and as someone pointed out, considering China is cracking down on 'the evils of gaming' this is probably smart.
They've allowed all their purchased companies to run independently, so far.
This 'fear of China' thing is reminds me how people back in the 80s were running around scared that the Japanese were buying up a lot of US companies and real estate.
As for the game, it's okay. I liked the beta. I can do without the card system, but I understand that it now has a 'classic' mode that eliminates the cards if you prefer. I'm also happy to hear they have implemented character progression in single player now.
It's on my wish list, but I'm not interested until there's as much of a 3rd party custom campaign catalog as there is for L4D2, which is really what made that game so repayable. May pick it up down the road if it goes on sale for 50% off or more, and I can convince my L4D2 friends to buy it so we can play together.
