AWS Outage Wreaks Havoc

An ongoing outage at Amazon Web Services today demonstrates how much of the Internet lives in Jeff Bezos' cloud service. As noted on DCD, the outage began at around 10:45 am EST. PC Gamer notes this took down platforms like UPlay and the Epic Games Store, though both are both back up now. Using Downdetector PC Gamer compiled a partial list of affected games:

  • League of Legends
  • League of Legends Wild Rift
  • PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
  • Valorant
  • Dead by Daylight
  • Clash of Clans
  • Destiny 2

Wow, what a nasty thing to say.

Come on, let's face it... this list reads like a who is who of what's wrong with modern gaming. Casual, dumbed down multiplayer games with monetization up the wazoo. Thank you, AWS. You did mankind a service. Maybe some basement dwellers even got a breather to take out the trash from the last three years. Or five. That can't be a bad thing.
