Youtube "When you're the only person in band that practices" has been removed by the uploader.
Videosift's copy is still live.
Thanks for the heads-up.

Had all 3 shots as Pfizer. Nothing but a little sore arm for a day or two. No other effects.
Meanwhile, in some European countries there were riots in the last few nights because of more pressure to get vaccinated.
We always pointed with our fingers at countries like Afghanistan and Iran because of the "stone age" behavior of many people in those countries. And now we can find out that we have a good share of stone age people amoung us. It seems that being an idiot is problem that has not much too do with nationalities, religions, races, and so on. Being an idiot is a human problem. A SPREADING problem.

But in all the clips I have seen I've never seen food at the table/board. I assume that is specifically against the rules. But it isn't uncommon for players to be off-camera and away from the board. So, they could easily be snacking on just about anything in small rooms near the stage.
there's a japanese competitive card matching game that they made an anime out of a few years ago. you have match them face down. they give you time to memorize where they are, but we're talking a grid of 100+ cards. the mental gymnastics required, yes, 6000+ calories a day. the only thing that would fuel them was pure sugar - soda, chocolate, whatever they could get their hands on. i'm curious if carlsen and the other GMs consume calories like that.

My second Moderna shot made me sick as a dog, but the booster I had on Thursday didn't affect me much at all. Had a bit of a fever last night before bed but that was pretty much it.

Apparently it is a lot of calories:Robert Sapolsky, who studies stress in primates at Stanford University, says a chess player can burn up to 6,000 calories a day while playing in a tournament, three times what an average person consumes in a day. Based on breathing rates (which triple during competition), blood pressure (which elevates) and muscle contractions before, during and after major tournaments, Sapolsky suggests that grandmasters' stress responses to chess are on par with what elite athletes experience.

Just under eight hours playing world championship level chess. It would be fascinating to know how many calories they burned by simply concentrating for that long. Both players were under clock pressure at various points in the match. In the end, Magnus lived up to his reputation for being a killer in end game situations. If anyone is looking for game summaries I recommend Gotham Chess. He does a good job of explaining the thinking behind "key" moves, even for a complete causal player like me.

Had both astrazeneca jabs earlier in the year and had to take time off after both. My immune system doesn't seem to like it. Not bothering with booster as my wife got covid about a month ago and the two of us were sharing a nasal spray the day before she got symptoms.
I work night shifts making engine blocks with about 10 other people in the factory. If I didn't catch it from my wife I doubt I'll get it at work!
