from Miller shows a slide from an investor presentation from EG7 revealing
plans for an MMOG based on the Marvel Comics universe (thanks
Eurogamer). EG7 is the parent company of Daybreak, Piranha Games, and more,
and the slide says a AAA MMO using the Marvel IP is in the "near to long-term
pipeline." The tweet offers the recent history of this project, saying it
revives an "unannounced AAA Marvel MMO that appeared in the GeForce Now leak and
which had previously been cancelled in 2018."
This
additional tweet offers more details from another slide:
The new AAA Marvel MMO is being developed by Dimensional Ink Studios and spearheaded by CEO Jack Emmert, whose lengthy resume includes DCUO, City of Heroes/Villains, and Marvel Universe Online (which was also cancelled before release though ultimately succeeded by Marvel Heroes.)

Jack Emmert was also responsible for Champions Online. Interesting they left that out.
I had fun with Marvel Heroes. It must be interesting how licensing deals work. They had all that coding, asset and debugging work done but when the license is up they'd just as soon drop all that and negotiate a new license.

Jack went AFK from Cryptic after Perfect World bought them out, glad he's working on this though.

Maybe they can just update City of Heroes Homecoming and pay the community leaders to further develop it. Its still fun when I played, the only reason I stopped was due to RL issues and latency in SEA being too high to play with NorthAm community servers.
City of X was ruining by the ability to create you're own missons (farming the fuck out of them) and never properly balancing out classes (like the one used to farm).
Yea this new fan project seems to be pretty balanced as well as adding new/planned features that were not released during the retail Cryptic to NCSoft eras. I'm enjoying it despite the terrible lag.

Didn't DCUO (and still does) get like expensive when you hit like level 30, where the gameplay changes and sort of tells you, to play further, you have to start putting coins into the machine?
