Hrm, I guess the idea of the sales attracts people, even if the actual sale prices aren't that spectacular anymore. I would have thought it would be WAY higher than 26-27 million though... I always picture Steam as being a platform hundreds of millions of people use, although I guess timezones, people having to sleep, etc.

EDS now in steam threads.

If you look at the Lifetime concurrent users on Steam graph over a period of the last year not much has happened, if you look at it over a period of 3 years you can see where covid hit and if you go back to 2018 there was another significant bump. What happened in 2018 that could have caused that increase: was it the introduction of RTX cards or VR or something else.

Lots of people game outside of PCs: Android, Apple, PS, XBox, etc.
Lots of people PC game outside of Steam: Origin, GoG, EGS, etc.
Lots of people game on Steam offline and aren't counted among concurrent users.
I'm a smoldering volcano of virility. At least, that's what I tell myself.

An insightful distinction, Sir.
My country, Argentina, figures with high attendance and sales, as it's regularly the country with lowest prices on Steam.
Sadly, this blessing is because of our galactic level inflation, not because of honoring Messi or Maradona as some say.

I was on Steam briefly. I didn't play anything too. I doubt I will be playing anything this long weekend! Stupid life.

Steam needs to lower their cut from 30% to 10% so they too can lose $100's of millions a year until they go out of business.

You seem to have forgotten that the Black Friday game sale was yesterday.

So my guess is people are trying their new games in droves.

Altho both hypotheses aren't mutually exclusive.

Don't forget freebies and anti-consumer third-party exclusives—that'll win over consumers. Those Epic suits sure know what they're doing.

If you look even closer the users usually peak each year around Christmas (the peak sales volume time) and the following month while everyone is playing their new games.

Great illustration of why Gamestop became irrelevant.

Epic knows exactly what they are doing.
Those expenses won't matter once the store gets a shopping cart because they'll make up for them with volume.
