The myth of Thanksgiving

Thank you Blue, for keeping and increasing the quality after so many years.

On a side note. My laptop wifi has been causing the connection issues, apologies again for the misplaced blame.

I've been wanting a new HOTAS for a while, but prices and availability have been awful for the past year. I spotted a Saitek X-52 in the local recycle center the other day for $30, so I picked it up. The box was pretty beat up, but the HOTAS is mint, barely used. All the buttons and axes work, so I'm going to be flying/spacefaring a bit this WE. This is a 2012 model, so Mad Cat days, reliability might be an issue. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

So, uh, I may have caused a small kerfuffle on the "Neighborly" app for my local neighborhood.

Someone was complaining that there were too many deer.

I replied:
Wolves. They are a multipurpose solution.

Too many deer? Wolves.
Management being a dick at John Deere? Wolves.
GQPers being morally and ethically corrupt corporate catamites? Wolves.
Karen in the express lane at the market with 20 items who pays by check? Also wolves.
Gravy Seals parading around with their tacticool costumes and Barbie Dress-Up AR-15s? Again, wolves.
Spreadnecks who won't wear masks and get vaccinated? You guessed it, wolves.

Wolves. Now and forever.

It was like kicking an ant mound. Q ramblings, threats of violence, and two death threats. I giggled like an unrepentant schoolboy the entire time.

Today was a quiet one. Just me and the four legged kids. Watched a couple of movies. 8-bit Christmas tried really, really hard to be a modern-ish version of A Christmas Story but it suuuuuuuuuuuuuucked.

So, you put on the Troll mask for Thanksgiving? I'll give you a pass.

Should change my name to Giving. I want some praise dammit!

I remember watching the original broadcast of that episode. It is a good thing I was much younger than I am now, if I laughed that hard now I might seriously injure myself.

NPR interviewed the sales dude that took Kimber from 20 stores to 2000. (Don't quote me on exact numbers)
After many many years he finally had to leave.
He's a gun guy but Not a gun Nut. And the whole industry has gone to the nuts.

This is the exact reason I do not associate with "gun enthusiasts". I do not want to be tainted by their stupidity even by adjacency. I grew up with firearms and I own firearms. They are tools, not fetish items, or things around to build one's identity. Those that fetishize them and/or build their identity around them are the very last people I want holding any kind of firearm.

Randomly ran into the trailer for this film today. If this movie has been mentioned here before I overlooked it. The category for this film IMHO is: "this should be a comedy film, but somehow they accidentally made a sci-fi film instead"

The crazy bastards did it. They made a comedic movie out of Junji Ito's Hellstar Remina, and they made it less funny than the original!

I wasn't previously familiar with Junji Ito's "Remina", but a quick search tells me your connection to the book might be correct. And as best as I can tell, the movie is a comedy only based on how hilariously bad it looks to be...

You pretty much summed up my life with guns as well. I grew up with guns, but a gun is a tool, and that's it. The weapons I own are for target practice and self defense. My father was a hunter but I never got into hunting myself. My Dad, long time member of the NRA, cancelled his membership 20 years ago along with a letter that accused them of having lost their way. The NRA used to represent the gun owner, but in his opinion, they now represent the gun manufacturers.

I keep picturing the minor fender bender where the person gets out of his car hopping mad and starts yelling bloody murder at the driver of the sub-compact** that tapped his car.
Only to change his tune when an over 6 foot tall sleep deprived mountain man extricates himself from the tiny vehicle ala clown car circus act.

Fortunately, I can't do a legitimate comparison since I have seen neither. I would agree Life did appear from its trailer to be a not good film. That said, it didn't look as horrendously stupid as the trailer for Moonfall looks to be.
