brought to you by the party of law and order...sigh
Nearly half of Republican voters support federally decriminalizing cannabis, and GOP lawmakers are now beginning to reflect their constituents’ view by increasingly supporting broad legalization at the state and federal level. https://www.politico.com/news/2021/11/21/cannabis-democrats-republicans-523119

Legal weed is not only cheaper it's also higher quality.
I know more than one person that travels out of state to buy and including gas and hotels it is still cheaper.

Plus you can get edibles and some of the green is so potent that you only need to look at it to get a buzz.

There are no downsides.

Is that true though? I was under the impression that illegal weed sales haven't faded much in the face of legal sales. The taxes on the legal stuff are so high (no pun intended) that the illegal stuff is a lot cheaper.

(not that I would really have a clue through direct knowledge -- I have never touched the stuff)

The quicker "dope" is legalized everywhere the sooner we can stop seeing headlines like "Connecticut officials warn of marijuana laced with fentanyl after reports of overdoses."

There seems to be some therapeutic usage for the stuff. If the Feds ever remove it from the Schedule I list we might even get some medical studies to prove it. As for the recreational use, if you are doing it at home and not going out while under the influence, fine. Whatever. Me? I'm sticking with caffeine, sugar, and some occasional alcohol....

Just not ours because it would remove one of the excuses to militarize the police and incarcerate brown folks.

IIRC, the "Dude" guy got busted for dope of some kind years back...;) And that ended his brain-dead career at the time. I would have liked the campaign much better if he'd said, "Dude, you are not getting a Dell! Comprendevous?"...;)

It's mentioned in the article. "His stint as the pitchman came to an abrupt end in 2003 when he was busted for suspicion of buying marijuana."

A good friend of mine wanted a 10 mb hard drive for his PC back in the 80s. The most he could find was 5 mb. However, he heard about this guy importing 10 mb hard drives from Taiwan, so he called the guy and drove down to Austin (?) to pick them up. The guy was selling them out of his garage. That man was Michael Dell.

We still use "Dude, you're getting a Dell" at work but in a dejected, bummed out tone.
