While we are still planning to deliver a substantial amount of content from Blizzard next year, we are now planning for a later launch for Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV than originally envisaged. These are two of the most eagerly anticipated titles in the industry, and our teams have made great strides towards completion in recent quarters. But we believe giving the teams some extra time to complete production and continue growing their creative resources to support the titles after launch will ensure that these releases delight and engage their communities for many years in the future.
Vicarious visions wasn't responsible for the back end architecture and bnet integration. That part was left to Blizzard to develop in-house.

Calling it: Diablo IV will be published by Activision and Blizzard will be gone by then. And D4 will be an MMO with instances for pseudo single-player parts.
Or....they decided to switch development teams. Not a first for Blizzard. Vicarious visions (which recently got integrated with Blizz) seems to be the best bet for taking on Diablo4 development. They did a stellar job with remastering D2, and as such probably have a fundamental understanding of what makes a good Diablo game.
A stellar job? Mhhh. ok..I wasn't ware you liked queues that much.
