PC God of War in January

Sony Santa Monica announces that God of War is coming to PC, and a Windows edition of the PlayStation action/RPG will arrive on Steam on January 14, 2022. Here's the PC Announce Trailer that accompanies the news. Word is this will include all sorts of platform appropriate enhancements, including visual improvements, NVIDIA DLSS and Reflex support, 21:9 resolution, keyboard mapping customization, and more. Here's a bit on what to expect:
Our primary goal when bringing God of War to PC was to highlight the exceptional content the team created and leverage the powerful hardware that the platform offers to create a uniquely breathtaking and high-performance version of the game.

You’ll be able to enjoy the full potential of our cinematic, no-cut camera as it follows Kratos and Atreus across the realms with the option of true 4k resolution, on supported devices, and unlocked framerates.

Our PC version includes a wide range of graphical presets and options so you can fine-tune your visual experience based on your setup. From higher resolution shadows and improved screen space reflections to enhancements to the ambient occlusion pipeline with GTAO and SSDO – God of War on the PC can create striking visual quality unique to the platform.

Yes, pretty much... that's why Sony had the decency (up to now) to only release it on console to the 12 year olds .

Seriously, as much as I appreciate Sony's efforts to bring some of their exclusives to PC, I'm not overly interested in this one. It definitely seems like a very shallow and cliche juvenile game with "roided up" warriors to please teenager boys and their power fantasies. Maybe on a deep sale one day...

I'll try that again. You guys fucking serious?! We are talking about the motherfucking god of WAR and you complain about toxic musculinity and roided up warriors?! Jesus fucking Christ! The handful of Yale students who introduced that anti-male/"feminist" take on things are laughing their fucking arses off for a practical joke being successful.

Ah, so you're one of those gaming hipsters.

As far as this announcement goes, I'm stoked. My brother got it on PS4 on release, and I only played through about the first 5 hours or so. I always wanted a chance to finish, but never got back to it. Even in just that short time, this was an amazing game - up there with Naughty Dog. I always enjoyed the God of War franchise, but this was on another level.

As long as it's not a shitty port, I'll be grabbing this for sure.

What do you mean fully adjustable POV? Did you mean FOV? I doubt they'll let that be adjusted, as the game often blends its cinematics into the gameplay without camera cuts.

I really hope they add in a good KB/Mouse setup. This is a game that rewards skill shots. I played through it on PS4 but unlike Spider-man, the controller DID get in the way here.

The save/load thing will honestly be at the bottom of their list, and the most likely thing to not happen out of the things you want.

Days Gone has pretty deep video customization options, including FOV slider. The expectation is that Days Gone is the baseline. The controls are also solid, though the gameplay is a bit different since there's no gunplay.

The game is also moddable and you can enable the console to issue commands in game

I'm down.
Can we have FFVII Remake too now, please? Way past the 1 year PS4 exclusive deal at this point.

I'm also going to have to steal "Jesus Christ on a bike"

Another corporate quick buck scheme of trotting out old console product that no longer sells and repackaging it as a half assed PC port. I won't even consider it unless it has the following PC game essentials:

* fullly adjustable POV, brightness, contrast, bloom etc.
* full keyboard and mouse support with re-binding of any key/button
* movement, camera, mouse and keyboard control that is fluid, not the usual slow as molasses PC port garbage
* full player controlled game save and game load facility

What do you mean fully adjustable POV? Did you mean FOV? I doubt they'll let that be adjusted, as the game often blends its cinematics into the gameplay without camera cuts.

About halfway into the game, a device will become available that lets you....ehh, best not to spoil it. Point is, using the device has a long, SUPER cool animation that's there to cover up load times. Pretty quickly, I'd decided I was only going to use it when absolutely required to move the story forward. I doubt they'll speed it up or let you skip it on a SSD, as the animation is....complex. Like, "how long did they spend doing JUST this?!?", and it moves the characters around to be in place for when it's finished.
The art in this game is honestly incredible, don't be concerned that it's a couple years old. Yes, it'd be *NICE* if Sony moved faster on this port. I'm betting the sales numbers from their PC ports will determine how much priority they put into getting their sequels on PC in a timely manner. I doubt you'll see same-day releases, but maybe it'll only be a year or so gap, and single-player games don't have the limited shelf life that multiplayer ones do.

Now we just need Spider-Man and the FULL Uncharted series (not just 4....although if you were only going to get one of them, 4 -is- the best).

Don't know much about this series but think I heard good things about it.

At this point though, until I can buy a new graphic card for under 1k, I'm not buying any of these games using new technology. I would be ruining the experience at this point on my 1070ti.

Sucks. Until these @$$holes (coin farmers) that don't give a damn about PC gaming can get tf away from graphic cards, the PC gaming building market is wrecked. Sure, you have your 1% peeps that don't give a damn about paying 2k+ for a graphics card, or the people that don't care to give away 2k+ for a damn graphics card, but then there are those that refuse to buy until things settle down again. When the heck that will happen, who knows. It just is a horrible time to be a PC gamer if you're looking for a quality build that won't go over 2k in total.

Sony has had a change of heart about PC, and seems willing to bring previous PS exclusives to PC. Although Spider-Man is a bit of an older game at this point, I'm hopeful.

SWEET. I look forward to being able to add this to my PC library. The whole series has been fun to play and this last one was definitely good enough to be played again...but shinier.

This are extraordinary news, confirms Sony decision to bring classics old and eventually new to PCs. No matter the delays, it's breaking the ice.
I hope that good games bring Sony good returns, so perpetuating this trend.
Microsoft seems ok with this too.
Now, for those old Nintendo dinosaurs
