Epic Games Store will welcome games that make use of blockchain tech provided they follow the relevant laws, disclose their terms, and are age-rated by an appropriate group. Though Epic's not using crypto in our games, we welcome innovation in the areas of technology and finance.
As a technology, the blockchain is just a distributed transactional database with a decentralized business model that incentivize investment in hardware to expand the database's capacity. This has utility whether or not a particular use of it succeeds or fails.

Epic crap store proving once again they'll sink to any depths as long as they profit from it.

Won't be long before Epic is selling porn now too. Sweeny is just such a fucking sleazebag.
I think the words your looking for is "lacks principles."
Oh he has principles alright, just those of a sleazebag.

Yep and we all know that Valve are these shining white knights of moral integrity. Valve would NEVER allow racist, sexist or other morally ambiguous games on their store. They also IMMEDIATELY (like after the first three billion dollars) acted against scams like fake games, trading cards and other community market shenanigans.
Epic = blackest shades of black
Valve = whitest shades of white

Half of the Epic is actually owned by a Chinese company which their gov is hitting hard on crypto currencies. Let's see how this will go.

I hate cryptocurrency and think it should be illegal. And NFTs are just stupid. But blockchain itself is just a technology. I guess I need to understand better how games are leveraging it and what the downsides are.

I'm a little perplexed by all the Epic hate here especially since they take their Fortnite cash and actually try to do the right thing like fight the 30% greed that Steam and Apple have been reaping. Blockchain isn't just "nft" or "bitcoin". Gambling games are ok though, no one blinks an eye about texas hold em.
