Battlefield 2042 Beta Preloads

With the Early Access to the Battlefield 2042 beta beginning for preorder customers tomorrow, a new post from Epic Games has everything we need to know, reminding us that preloads get underway today and that the beta opens to all on Friday. Unsurprisingly, this neglects to mention the preloads on Origin and Steam, where the beta will also be playable. Here's word:
The Battlefield 2042 open beta will be live from October 6-9 on the Epic Games Store. To prepare for your deployment into the coming war, we’ve gathered all the necessary intel on the upcoming beta.

When Can I Play the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta?
Everyone can preload the beta starting on Oct. 5 via the Epic Games Store. The beta unlocks on Oct. 6 (at 07:00 UTC) for those who have pre-ordered the game. If you haven’t pre-ordered the game, you can play starting on Oct. 8 (at 07:00 UTC). The beta ends on Oct 9.

Preload is broken on Origin currently. The open beta is not appearing in anyone's library.

I have not pre-purchased the game but got the open beta through EGS and it is downloading fine now via Origin (18.81GB download) at max speed.

Since some posts in this thread may lead to confusion: The open beta does not automagically appear in your EGS account. You have to let EGS update (version 13.0.0 or something), restart, navigate to the store page, click on the BF 2042 entry, then "purchase" the open beta just like you've done it hundreds of times with the freebies every week.
Only now will you find the open beta in your EGS library. Now click on install and EGS will launch the Origin thin client (same as when launching any EA game through Steam) which requires you to log in with your Origin credentials. After this first step I had to click on "install" in EGS again because the download would not start automatically. It only linked my EGS and Origin accounts during the previous step. You might be able to skip this step if you have previously linked your EGS and Origin accounts.

P.S.: Don't start the real, full Origin client if going through EGS. This will lead to problems (same thing btw if you try this with Steam and the full Origin client). Just let EGS do its thing with the thin Origin client that it launches from within the EGS client.
