Windows 11 Kills Killer Networking

If you have "Killer" networking in your PC you should probably hold off on installing Windows 11 until Microsoft straightens out a software conflict. This notification (thanks PC Gamer) states that until a patch is released, systems running Intel's "Killer" networking software under Windows 11 are experiencing slowdowns. The fix is currently expected in a week. Here's the problem:
Compatibility issues have been found between some Intel “Killer” networking software and Windows 11. Devices with the affected software might drop User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets under certain conditions. This creates performance and other problems for protocols based on UDP. For example, some websites might load slower than others in affected devices, with videos streaming slower in certain resolutions. VPN solutions based on UDP might also be slower.

To be honest thank god

Killer network drivers are only good at 'killing' games and the networking stack. It's such a terribly written driver I'm shocked anyone was ever tricked into using their shlock. I've had to fix more problems with these drivers than any imaginary benefits their terribly implemented QOS garbage ever did
My MB has a Killer network adapter built in, in addition to the one integrated into the Intel chipset. I've always used the Killer one, but I only install the driver. I've never had any problem. I use just the driver and it works like any other ethernet adapter. I tried out their software way back when I built it, and saw no reason to ever use anything other than the driver.

Guess I’m a fool. Windows 11 has been running flawlessly on my PC for the past week.

This is why I always let a new OS cook for at least a year before I jump on board. Only a fool would jump off this cliff so quickly trusting anything from Microsoft.

This is unsurprising considering that Killer driver development has stagnated ever since Intel acquired them (Rivet Networks). They likely just wanted the patents.

It's always been more of a gimmick than anything else from what I've seen. I once wanted that, it sounds sexy!
I think as CPUs got stronger and CPU load got less for networking, and drivers got better, it ended up mattering much less.
