Out of the Blue

Happy World Animal Day, an occasion intended to "raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe." You know I love me some animals, so I'm on board. Maybe too much. I recently mentioned the disappearance of our window spiders. Surprisingly, the larger one has returned, so rumors of her death were greatly exaggerated. But I'm sticking by my determination to let nature take its course. I once again pondered bringing her inside for the winter, but I don't think there's any chance she'd have enough to eat, and causing a spider to starve to death doesn't seem like an appropriate celebration of World Animal Day.

A good rule of thumb for successful holding a pee secret: location, location, location. Preferably a Starbucks restroom.

Yep. I wish them well and there are events I'd like to see there. That said, the loss they suffered due to halting my use during COVID doesn't even register on their tracking. I was only going to the theater a couple of times a year anyway. And certainly if you can't go two hours without urinating, no point in going. Fortunately for me I haven't reached that lack of functionality, yet. Totally agree that some movies are simply better at the theater. Having a 65" 4K television is great, but it still is not the 45-50 feet you get at the theater.

I wish the theater industry well, especially the two mom & pop theaters we have here. I have no problem going back to theaters when I feel comfortable, but even before Covid I wasn't going all that often, and when I did it was matinees since I really never liked a crowded theater. It's also hard for me to sit for a movie longer than 2 hours without a bathroom break. For those of you who are not yet at the age to have bladder or prostate issues, you'll find out soon enough.

I mainly go to theaters for cinematic spectacles, special events like the Fathom events, and one of the theaters here used to have screening of grand old classics like 2001, Gone with The Wind, etc on a regular basis.

I have a huge HDTV at home, and most films I can comfortably watch there, but a big screen experience is great for certain movies.

E85 is not a low octane fuel, with an octane rating of ~94-96, which is higher than premium gasoline. The video is about 85 octane fuel sold in high elevation places, not E85.

It depends on where it sets up shop. I always have no shortage of spiders, centipedes and other bugs around inside year round. Still, it's a considerate thought. But it seems nature has that covered....

How Do Spiders Stay Warm in Winter?

Spiders will also carefully select their nest to prepare for winter. It will be protected, damp and dark area which provides them with warmth in some way. Some spiders will even burrow into the ground to build a warm home. Others may even form igloo-like structures in the snow.

The spiders already inside your home, on the other hand, will only ever live in your home. House spiders are not designed to survive the extreme conditions outside, and they’ll spend their whole life hiding somewhere in your house.

Speaking of animals, one of the little black moles around here just set up shop at the rear corner/side of the house. I put food there for the chipmunks, birds, etc. so I sprinkle some safflower and sunflower seed around for him. And I've seen him drag nuts into his burrow which is actually kinda creepy as it looks like some alien dragging its victim down into the darkness. Love those little guys though. Their fur is just pitch black and so shiny. So he's smart, I imagine his burrow is right along the wall of the house where it's much warmer through the cold weather and he's stocking food and will have access to it all winter long.

Yeah he definitely would be told that he’s used up eight of his nine lives with that stunt.

As for theaters, nothing beats less space than a Southwest Airlines Cattle call, Chewing noises, Wrapper noises, Fkn Phones and Chatty Cathy’s.
As for AMC, If I get the choice I’ll skip them in the future.

Congratulations, you got a momentary uptick in numbers. However, that doesn't reverse the 17 year trend of declining ticket sales. You are in a dinosaur industry that is slowly fading in to irrelevance. Sure, there are proponents of the "theatre experience" but they are a dying breed.
