I am not going to play the beta, but hopefully people test the shit out of it, I do plan on getting suckered in to getting BF2042 at the retail release.

Not going to play the play the open beta because let’s face it it’ll launch as a paid beta. That said I can’t wait to get this game and don’t want to be turned off. I need a new FPS damnit.
I don't get it. So here's the chance for a free open beta (demo) and yet you guys would rather spend $60 while expecting it will be garbage anyway? What? Especially @phinn and the highlighted part... in what universe does that make any sense? Yeeeaaahhh let's stay away from that scary free open beta that might turn one off from the game because blindly buying the game is a much better idea? Wow.
Well, whatever floats your boat. It's your money. I, for one, will surely play the open beta as a free demo, and depending on the outcome, I might sub to EA Play Pro for a month after release. I'm old and can't keep up with the kiddies anyway. Nor do I have the time or the will to sink weeks or months of my life into a rather boring repetitive multiplayer treadmill like BF.
A $14.99 month of EA Play Pro should be more than enough to play as much BF 2042 as I can tolerate. There are too many other (better) games to play anyway.
Oh, I don't think it'll be garbage; I've got a minimum of 100 hours out of every Battlefield game I've ever bought, I'm sure BF 2042 will be at least that much. The DICE videos and unscripted alpha videos look great. I tend to shy away from open or closed betas/alphas though, purely because I don't like putting time into unfinished games, when as you say, there is so much else to play. Plus it's only like 2-3 days? I'll be at work or driving to and from work, the majority of that time.
EA Play Pro makes sense financially for most people, I agree, but I can't bring myself to do video game subscriptions yet. I'll buy the digital copy, unless beta/release reviews indicate it's utterly unplayable.
Hackers and release day bugs can't scare me off.
