I really wish I could get excitement back for this franchise. I was one of the original who bought BF1942 in 2002 and thought it was one of the best multiplayer experiences back then. It was so grand scale in comparison to everything out at that time.
Since then, I obviously picked up BF2, BF3, heard Vietnam was trash, skipped it. Skipped 2142 and basically everything else that has come out since. I've tried Bad Company single player briefly. It was Okay but at times felt too arcadey with unlimited respawning guys. I then tried BF One online briefly. It felt a tad too deathmatchey to me. In that guys were everywhere, nearly at respawn and you're dead.
In the original BF series, I felt it ran a tad slower pace which in turn gave it a more realistic feel. You can move for a bit prior to seeing someone, so the feeling of an encounter was greater. I guess there is the pro and cons to that. If they wanted to compete with COD, they had to be more deathmatch style with less waiting on encounters, but then that reduces any chance of realism. Oh well, just my Battlefield rant, lol.
