Out of the Blue

In 1993 many were taken aback by the casting of the Super Mario Bros. movie. With Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as the titular brothers, Dennis Hopper as King Koopa (not to mention Mojo Nixon as anything), this turned the crazy up to 11. Now the new Super Mario Bros. movie has been announced, and its casting decisions are one of those "hold my beer" moments everyone loves so much. So what are we talking about here? Start with Chris Pratt and Charlie Day as Mario and Luigi, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. Move on to Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong. The only thing that would make this all better would be for it to be a live-action affair, but this will be an animated feature, so we'll have to settle for hearing the characters, as much as we want to see Chris Pratt running around in overalls.

Plumb Crazy Round-up

Watching E3 now... I like the series is visually pretty. Apple is sure rich. Now, if they can use their money to make their hardwares, softwares, and other services better. So many issues.

Also, I hope we will see Robot Daneel Olivaw in this series.
Yup, I thought Ep 3 was another winner. If it continues like this, I hope we get several seasons out of it.

Being James Bond is worth watching.

Greyhound will be your thing if, like me, you're a fan of classic 1950's and 60's era WW2 naval movies. It was panned by the critics for bringing nothing new. The whole reason I loved it, is because there was nothing new.

It was a damn good movie about 5 days of hell, leading a convoy escort mission. No needless back story, no needless romance, no character angst, no clever plot twist, no fluff. It's just a good WW2 yarn.

If that's not your thing, then move along.
I wonder if Blue saw that documentary. I like those type of war movies!! Argh, not enough time! Why am I in here? I need lunch!

Yeah, even without having seen it I had come to this conclusion. Which doesn't mean it won't be good television, it just won't be Foundation. *shrug*
It's still Foundation, at least the over-arching story: psychohistory predicting the end of the empire, Hari Seldon exile, the galactic library in Terminus as the solution, etc. They're just kind of liberally filling in the gaps. I found it quite enjoyable.
Was its E3 better?

With Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, For All Mankind, The Banker, Mythic Quest, See, M Night Shyamalan's "Servant" and more

I enjoyed For All Mankind, but for its space parts like in space, in NASA, etc. Romance, family, etc. parts were yawning. I need to check out Being James Bond, Greyhound, and Ted Lasso (will I like it?)

"The events are entirely original to the TV series, not drawn from the books at all, so understandably even viewers who are well-acquainted with Asimov's books are unlikely to have seen this coming - what's going on?"

I'm going to wait until the whole season is out and binge watch it, unless the reviews end up being aweful.

I don't mind it if the first two episodes are full of 'talk about math'. That's actually a good sign for me, and that's pretty much the start of Foundation in a nut shell, and they have to setup the background. Interested to see where this goes.
I watched the first two episodes (first episode is free to watch and was good). However, its second episode was slow until the ending.
I wasn't digging that ending. It made no sense.

Mean is average. You mean median, haha

dammit! i missed my chance to be pedantic. now i'll be in a surly mood all day. but yeah, in a statistically large enough sample, median and mean are usually very close together anyway.
The word you're looking for is "pendantic."

See what I did there.

average
a number expressing the central or typical value in a set of data, in particular the mode, median, or (most commonly) the mean, which is calculated by dividing the sum of the values in the set by their number.

I always thought it was synonymous with mean, but perhaps it has become conflated with median as well due to incorrect usage over the decades.
