I've heard that after about 10hours of gameplay Deathloop gets extremely boring and repetitive and the AI is atrocious. So, par for the course.

Doubtful, considering the great scores it's getting.

Weird seeing all the hate here, Arkane's games have all be good and much better than the standard AAA fare.

When a reviewer whom I actually respect, and who's game of the year awards went to Dishonored and Prey, says the game is boring and disappointing, well yeah. I tend to believe that more than the average metacritic score. Also, I wasn't born yesterday. How many games got fucking awesome scores from the "yes men" brigade, and turned out to be total pieces of shit?

No one is correct 100% of the time. I've seen a lot of shit takes from good reviewers in the past to know trusting one point of reference is a BAD idea.

Mack (Worth-a-Buy) has been full of shit for most of the time for the last year or two. The dude found his audience: the people who enjoy talking shit about games, preferably AAA/AA-games. He's been wrong about objective aspects of games very often too but I've said this more than once here already. So even though there is some uncharacteristic nuance in his review of Deathloop... to base your decision to buy a game or not on Mack, is to rid yourself of basically all proper or good AAA/AA games out there. Your library will become nothing but indie shite.

If people are going to review-bomb a game, the very least they can do is wait for the facts. All games have some issues at launch, just wait a couple weeks for a bugfix.

after watching some more videos i didnt realize how similar it actually is to Dishonored

also IIRC the sequel had horrible problems with stuttering and performance issues - perhaps its the same engine or an iteration, and they are having similar issues as before as well

I was going to pick up Deathloop but the ACG review put me off it, for now. I have enjoyed pretty much every game Arcane has put out. They aren't an AAA company, but higher end AA, so their games are never perfect, but always interesting and somewhat unique. So I will pick this game up, but I'll wait for some patches to fix the issues I've heard of (and hopefully improve the AI), and grab it when it hopefully goes on sale around the time the DLC hits.

Exactly.
73 percent, not bad at all, considering the sizeable review bombing from the rabid anti Denuvo rebel brigade.

But Deathloop, doesn't do anything for me. I get little joy out of killing bots in an FPS game :/

Is Prey really beloved, or classic?
I enjoyed the new Prey far more than the original. Significantly more depth in every aspect, tons of variety in how you play it, lots of interesting things to do, and no spirit walking.

And it's weird that I have to force myself to remember it, we're still in the midst of a pandemic. Most civilized countries have their employees working remotely if it's at all possible. Developing like that is going to slow everything down.

Like Cyberpunk got endless shit, and I honestly don't think I heard one word of sympathy for developing remotely.

The new Battlefield game was supposed to give the studios the most lead time they've ever had in 20 years. A full 3 years since the launch of BFV in 2018. This was supposed to be the cleanest launch ever, and all signs point to be being a shitshow.

So yeah, cut Arkane some slack, same with any developer having to release like this. Even though Arkane can burn in hell for torturing the corpse of Prey. And yes, I'm contractually obligated by my conscience to bring that up anytime this developer is mentioned.

From what I seen on streams of Deathloop It's a instant skip. I don't even care peripherally like I did for Prey which I liked immensely after trying it in-depth. Just from looking at it, it looks like 25% of a game.

Most AAA games are just generic poo poo these days IMO.

I started deathloop, just for a taste. I’m still working on finishing other games. But the humor in deathloop seems pretty spot on. it does feel like their other games and thats not a bad thing. The gripes, I’ve not experienced any of those, but I’m sure something will probably happen. For playing it now I’m not exactly in a hurry, since usually it’s better after a couple of patches.

All you have to do is look at the comments on Steam, hoards of players denouncing the game because of the horrid copy protection scheme.

Has nothing to do with the DRM for the stuttering performance.

And stuttering. Which might be more due to unoptimized engine, who knows. If it ran great probably not as many complaints.
They would have been best off pledging to remove the DRM after a few months.

Glad to see Deathloop doing well.

I don’t think it’s really doing well. It must have been a weak week on Steam. The peak player numbers were very low for a new release. In that top 100 list Deathloop was typically found in the second half way down the list. It just did well relatively in comparison to the other games on the sales charts for whatever that means.
