Dying Light 2 Delayed Again

The crowding of next year's game release schedule continues, as Techland announces another delay to the release of Dying Light 2 Stay Human. The zombie-infested action/RPG sequel was last expected by the end of this year, but now it is now due on February 4th. This is because the game needs some more Polish polish, but we are told to expect previews of the game next month. Here's word from Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka:
Today we have important news to share with you about the development progress on Dying Light 2 Stay Human.

It has always been our company's goal to build transparent and honest communication with our community, fans, and gamers. Every day, we strive to grow this element.

The team is steadily progressing with the production and the game is nearing the finish line. The game is complete and we are currently playtesting it. It is by far the biggest and the most ambitious project we've ever done. Unfortunately, we've realized for us to bring the game to the level we envision, we need more time to polish and optimize it.

That is why we have decided to move the release date to February 4th, 2022.

We are sorry to keep you all waiting a little longer, but we want the game to meet your highest expectations on release and we don't want to compromise on this. However, you won't have to wait too long to get a deeper look at Dying Light 2 Stay Human. Next month, both press and content creators will get their hands on PC and console versions of the game during the upcoming series of preview events around the world. They'll be able to share their experiences of The City with you.

In the meantime, we would like to thank all of our fans around the world without your support and feedback, we would never have come so far on this journey.

In addition to our regular updates, we'll be gearing up to share some exciting news about the game later this month. Stay Safe and Stay Human.

Pawel Marchewka

They have amazing gameplay and shit writing/stories.
Despite owning at least 8 of their games going back to Chrome.
They fucked up DL so bad every time they update/patch single player save game, gets fragged.
They are so obsessed with online cash sales, they constantly update.
Apparently they aren't intelligent (?) enough to make 2 different exe files, one single player and one online.
You lose 100s hours depending on how much you play between patches.
And up to 1000s of hours total time being forced to start over years.

Don't even get me started on being forced the play as a fucking male or forced to be infected again in DL2. Middlefinger

Ahh motherfudger! Enh, given its development issues so far I'll definitely be waiting to see how it pans out.

Well, can't say I'm overly surprised, given it's rocky development so far.

Hopefully it turns out awesome, I had a lot of fun with the first game.

I am afraid they wanted to achieve just too much with DL2's storytelling and found out that they goalwise had a Scam... sorry... Star Citizen problem. I hope they went back to developing a game with a more realistic scope.

Don't pull a Cyberpunk 2077 and release the game when it's done. Even if it is 2022 or 2023.

^ so much this. I'm in no rush anyway and won't buy this game before there is a complete edition. They can and should take all the time that it needs.

DAMMMMIT!

Besides Infinite, this was really the only other title I was looking forward to this year. I say release now, patch it later, we'll maneuver around the bugs and problems. At least then we'll be able to actually >play< the damn thing! Call it something special...like...um, I dunno, call it 'First Preview' or 'Early Access'...yes, YES! That's it! Or, you could just release a damn demo of the first part of the game like back in the day. I've waited so very long for this game, don't go and disappoint me now...

No surprise but still disappointing. At least it hasn't been canceled, as I assumed it had been for a long time. First game was a great spiritual successor to Dead Island and improved upon it in many ways. The writing sucked bad but that's unimportant in a game like this anyway. Oh and the QTE boss fight... that's just lazy. Still looking forward to how this one turns out.
