According to the latest Steam HW survey, around 87% use a 16:9 display with 1920x1080 being the most common by far at 68.42%.

3440x1440 sits at a wonderful 1.02%, which is an amount few developers would redesign the game from scratch for if the resolution causes gameplay issues.

Yeah, I mostly agree with this. They never set out to make major updates/changes to the game. They simply wanted to enhance it for more modern PC setups. Perhaps not to the extreme (no Ultra wide), but still to do the point where probably 90% of the PC gaming market can enjoy it still.

As others said, if that isn't enough for you, you can either mod the heck out of it or look else where at this point. Blizz already knows they have a solid fanbase that will enjoy the game with the enhancements and mostly stopped because it was getting old as "f" and looked horrendous on current hardware, lol.

Yea, that's why I said it looks they succeeded at what they were trying to do with D2:R. I just wish they'd have gone in a different direction, but I'll have to wait until Diablo 4 for a modern Diablo experience that isn't D3. It is what it is.

Sucks, but.. mods, baby! Assuming people even want to mod this anymore lol. There were some fantastic, awesome, creative mods for D2 back in the day.
