Total War: WARHAMMER III Delayed

A tweet from Creative Assembly announces the release of Total War: WARHAMMER III is being delayed from later this year to early next year. Here's a status report on the next installment in the fantasy/strategy series:
With nearly a decade of development on the Total War: WARHAMMER trilogy behind us, it feels surreal to see its culminating chapter so close to release. While it's tempting to rush to the finish line as it comes into view, we have made the decision to give it a little more time by moving the launch of Total War: WARHAMMER III from 2021 to early 2022.

The wait won't be much longer, and we'll have plenty of new information for you in the meantime. The new date will make for a stronger release and the best first step into a new era for Total War: WARHAMMER. Please don't consider this release the end of our trilogy, but the start of years of content and support as we continue to bring the jaw-dropping scale of Games Workshop's fantasy universe to Total War.

Thanks for your patience and support,
Rob Bartholomew
Chief Product Officer

I wish CA would get back to making their own games instead of working on the licensed IP wheel indefinitely but I am probably in the minority on that. I own TW:W1 and 2 but I don't enjoy them nearly as much as I enjoyed TW:R2, TW:E and and TW:M2.

I personally think the warhammer series is the best they've done. Adds quite a bit of dynamic.

I'd love to see a Civil War era TW with the same gameloop as Empire with the whole of the contiguous US as the map. Pretty much anything devoid of fantasy or WW2. WW1 might be interesting, though.

Amen on the Civil War. I have played Ultimate General Civil War for years, in spite of it's wacky non-responsive clumsy controls. If TW did the CW with TW's smooth intuitive controls I would be in heaven.

In the current US political climate neither of these settings is ever gonna happen. The moment you'd have named generals you'd have the slavery issue stabbing you in the back at all times.

Aren't they though BoP? While yes Total War: Warhammer has been their dominant game in the last several years, they have other 'non IP' games they've released. Total War Saga: Troy (though I understand it's a bit more fantastical than other 'historical' TW games), and Total War: Three Kingdoms was a pretty big hit as well.

I'd say "sorta" in regards to Troy and Three Kingdoms. They're still more fantasy oriented than Rome, Medieval, or Empire.

I'd love to see a Civil War era TW with the same gameloop as Empire with the whole of the contiguous US as the map. Pretty much anything devoid of fantasy or WW2. WW1 might be interesting, though.

On topic, I saw this coming a mile off. It's been more than a month since we've heard anything about TW:W3 and it was expected around November. I'm fine with the delay if that delay means a more finished and fleshed out game.

Considering the scale of it, that is maybe a good thing.
Yeah, I hate to hear it....but I respect them instituting a delay in the interest of a quality product. I wish more devs/publishers took this approach.
