Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, as Behavior Interactive's free-to-play
MMO action/adventure is now offline. This is just the latest reminder not to use
words implying some sort of permanence in a game's title. Word is that all
personal information for players has been scrubbed for security:
As previously announced, today we have officially sunset the game. As part of the shutdown, all personal data related to Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade has been removed.
We are proud of all of the work that went into Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, and for the amazing community that rallied behind the game. Thank you for everything, we appreciate all of your support through the years.

So the crusade wasn't eternal, it only lasted a little under 6 years. False advertising.
One of the biggest disappointments in modern gaming history. They promised the World, they delivered....well....not what they promised. Not even close. At least they delivered something though, unlike Star Citizen.
Yep they also got me. A founder, and threw money at it like a fool. But what a dream huh? I did play a lot during the EA, but the game effectively had already died to me back in 2016.

Gamesworkshop has never gotten over the loss of all that Warcraft money, it's etched into the cold grey plastic.
When I saw that to play online matches you had to pay (this was F2P) I was laughing so hard I accidentally hit the uninstall button with my knee. I mean, what did they expect would happen?

...Didn't feel like that at all. Felt more like an attempt at a team-based arena shooter with some vehicles.
Anyway. Still think they should have just snaked whatever engine Planetside 2 was on, fixed it up, and went down that road. Coulda seen it work with Imperium vs Xeno Vs Chaos, or some variation there of.
Hell. I would have loved to have seen the actual 40K MMO that THQ was working on before they went ka-put. I don't see that coming round again, not with the division going on in the 40K camp.
