Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Remake

Aspyr, Lucasfilm Games, and Sony Interactive Entertainment announce Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Remake, an updated version of BioWare's beloved RPG first released back in 2003. This was revealed at the PlayStation showcase as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive at launch, but this will be coming to PC as well. "We’ve spent the past several years assembling the very best talent from across the industry to deliver a modern vision of this timeless Star Wars legend," said Aspyr co-founder Ted Staloch. "As lifelong Star Wars fans with extensive experience working with many of its best games, we have the deepest love and admiration for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and cannot wait to share this amazing remake with the rest of the galaxy." The PlayStation Showcase 2021 Trailer is a brief tease, and here's more:
Development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Remake is led by a newly created team composed of industry veterans at developer and publisher Aspyr, working in close collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games have worked together in recent years to bring multiple classic Star Wars titles to modern platforms, including the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The game will be published on PS5 by SIE, while the PC version of the game will be published by Aspyr.

So i never played this game when it came out.. I tried to play it recently and after about 20 hours I was bored out of my mind.

It's skyrim all over again.

Yep reminds me of BioShock and Mario 2, just Skyrim all over again.

From my point of view it's skyrim all over again (to me). As in, i'll never finish it.

- Kotor 2: LucasArts rushed Obsidian and the last part and ending is rather abrupt.
But most of the game and the character deep interactions and choices where on another level.
Totally worthy game though.
Nexus modded, with restored cut content, it gets fleshed out better.
Like RogueSix said, Kreia character rocked.

Kreia's character, her analysis of the Jedi/Sith and the overall philosophy of her discourse is legendary.
Numerous papers have been written about this, and they're fascinating.

It would certainly be worth of a remake too.

I remember I used her line "Apathy is death" on any occasion where it would apply. I received a lot of raised eyebrows, but the right kind of nerds don't give a shit. I was still an idiot though.

Sam Magg's is not. And they're the one who's going to be doing writing on this. For those that don't remember, she's the one who claimed she was "raped" in GTA5, while falling up the ladder of failure while destroying everything she touched to the point that companies folded.
I had to look this up, because it occurred over half a decade ago. She said in an interview that players engaging in virtual sexual assaults in GTA online are deplorable and should be banned from the servers. I mean, who cares? She's entitled to her opinion.

The question I have to ask is, why are you still going on about something that occurred so long ago? Do you get this upset about every person who has a different opinion to you? Because if so, your life must be a pretty miserable experience.

Simon Says, exactly, so profound, I wonder if it was in part, Avellone involvement.
And I remember some posts at the time downgrading the game because of "too much talking".
But of course

Sorry Kxmode, succinctly said, but I'll have to dissent

- Kotor 1: dated graphics but excellent game, replayed so many times.
Try the Nexus graphic mods and more, as Acleacius said.

Here's to hoping they don't make the gameplay like Fallen Order...

RPG, real-time with pauses, that would be ideal.

Not holding my breath tho.

Yes, they should absolutely keep the classic gameplay in fights.

I liked the first one so much I played it through twice (a rare thing for me). The second time through I remember naming my character “Revan”, which added some unintended humour to the earnest dialogue

But it would be better if they redid kotor2 and actually finished it this time.

This game has the best twist in any story ever made, period. "I see dead people" is a fucking joke compared to this twist. It's one I didn't see coming, and it knocked me off my feet.

The above is a problem in case of a remake. All of us except for the new generation know about this twist. Without that twist, KOTOR is much like KOTOR 2: A good game, but not even remotely as legendary as the first -- and even a bit forgettable.

I called the big twist literally within minutes of the game starting, after it was revealed that the player character has (conveniently) lost their memory, so when twist came later in the game I was like "geez... finally". I think it didn't help that I had heard about some kind of "big twist" beforehand so I knew to expect something, otherwise I may not have figured it out. Apart from that, I don't remember the game much except that there was some kind of psycho droid that I found entertaining.

Ohh, yeah hearing about a big twist beforehand changes things big-time I think. I stumbled upon this guy on YouTube, and in his latest video he also starts with mentioning a "big twist/reveal" at the end of the video. Because of this I almost immediately figured out what was going on.

Here's the video. It is FUCKED UP indeed, but worth the watch:

I completely passed this game over because it looks and plays so dated, so I will be anticipating a modernized version of it. I am hoping it will be on pc and only mentions ps5 because it is a sony trailer.

Passed it over when? When it came out? It's probably the best Star Wars RPG, and one of the better Star Wars games ever made. You need to play it. I will bet hard currency that the remake ends up being dumbed down console trash.

Well, there are two Star Wars RPGs and imo Sith Lords by Obsidian is BY FAR the better one (fully patched, of course). The original KotOR is way overrated in my view. The consolitis was strong with it due to the limitations of the original Xbox. The maps were tiny as mentioned here, there was no inventory/equipment worth mentioning, the writing was pretty mediocre, the story and characters fulfilled all the typical BioWare cliches of the time, the constant waves of always the same enemies were a drag... I was honestly bored to tears when playing the game.
KotOR 2 was much better with its more mysterious premise. It made me want to lift the shroud why I lost my connection to the force, what Kreia had to do with it and what the Sith and the Jedi were up to. It wasn't all sunshine, lollipops and unicorns either since it also had its slog sections but I found it much easier to motivate myself to slog on.
