Diablo II: Resurrected Launch Timing Specified

In response to a question on the topic, Rod Fergusson tweets that 11:00 am EDT is the exact time on September 23rd to expect the launch of Diablo II: Resurrected (thanks PureDiablo). That date was previously set, but now we have a time as well. Here's word on how Blizzard is celebrating the first day of (northern) autumn:
We're launching at 8 AM PDT on the 23rd.

No UWQHD support... In 2021. Sad. Really, really sad. This D2 remaster looked so great but during the beta they said things that made it look more and more like Warcraft 3: Refncked. Stating "We want to stay to true the original vision" makes no sense when it comes to e.g. UWQHD support. Then it is actually "We don't care and don't want to 'waste' money on the remaster."

The amount of misplaced anger and confusion surrounding the game is really something else. It's like people see the graphics and think they've rebuilt the game from the ground up when all they've done was address some minor QoL concerns and threw on an overlay with a fresh coat of paint. It's even going to include a lot of the bugs from the base game like bugging Andariel because, again, they didn't rebuild the game which is the same reason why UW breaks the game.

That's it. If you're getting mad that it doesn't support UWQHD (assuming this isn't trolling) and if you feel like the bumps D2R has had along the way makes it more and more like Reforged then that's a you problem and not the developer.

This.

This. Really, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to provide UW support, but in order to do that they'd have to rework AI and make other core changes to the game. Which, again, I'm sure they'd be happy to do if this was a from-the-ground-up remake, but it's not. This is just a version of Diablo 2 that looks good and works on modern systems, nothing more. Even the QoL changes were very, very minor.

Hardly. Now I won't need 10 different mule characters just to transfer and hold my spare equipment. It won't change anything.

You're still gonna need mules when you run out of stash space

Playing Tetris with loot was never my idea of a good time. Calling that "vision" giving it too much credit—it was *very* likely a memory management system to prevent hoarders from blowing system memory.

Yeah, if they aren't even going to fix a bug like NHAM (Next Hit Always Misses), it seems weird to be complaining that you can't get full UW support. Hell, I'm surprised they are allowing for anything greater than 16:9, considering the default limitation was 800x600. Allowing for 19:9 already gives widescreen a significant advantage, and for a game that includes pvp, that's a concern.

Blue had the explanation in a story about this a couple days ago -- more screen space in Diablo is a direct gameplay advantage, and in extremes even caused issues with enemy AI.

It'd be nice to see UW monitor support, but I feel like the number of people with UW monitors is still such a tiny minority that I'd rather then get the game out on the release date than spend an extra several months implementing that for launch.

It's gonna be a long two weeks waiting for this. The beta was excellent, I can't wait to run through the whole game with friends.

I had two separate game clients so I could load in two separate accounts at once to transfer items.

What an absolute shit "system" that was.

That's probably way easier on their servers than having people repeatedly join and drop out of games to move stuff between mules, and/or create multiple empty game instances per player for moving gear.
