Alan Wake Remastered Officially Announced

An open letter on the Alan Wake Website from Sam Lake officially announces plans for Alan Wake Remastered, though a couple of recent indications had us pretty certain this project is in the works. The announcement seems to confirm the release date from one of those indications, saying the remake of Remedy's adventure game is coming this (northern) fall. Here's a bit:
The original game was only available for Xbox 360 and a few years later, PC. We are thrilled about the opportunity to bring the remastered version out for a new generation of platforms. I am excited to hear what you think about Alan Wake.

Alan Wake Remastered is the original experience you fell in love with all those years ago. We did not want to change that. But the visuals all around, including the character model of Alan Wake himself and the cinematics, have been updated and improved with some choice next-generation upgrades.

Alan Wake Remastered will launch this fall. Stay tuned for more information soon.

Cool. I barely played the original but thought the visuals were really good for its time. Maybe I'll give this another go when it hits. Curious if original owners get the remaster as a free upgrade, lol. Probably not.

i played the absolute shyte out of alan wake and it's dlc. I believe i had an intel q6600 and gtx 580 when it released and with some tinkering i could achieve 60fps@1080p. The flashlight and lighting were next level. Loved the stupid story and vo. I'm all in!

I don't see the point.

Ive already played the game on steam over the last couple of years. The game still looks awesome.

Will surely be a treat for new gamers, maybe old too.
Though I wish they would change the DLC, sorely lacking, imho.

I enjoyed Alan Wake when it came out. It has great atmosphere, but the gameplay is repetitive. I'm not sure I would want to play though it again even with a remaster. I also felt the same way about Control, which is set in the same universe.

I've been stuck on that first boss in Control, lol. The one that hovers and you have to throw sh!t at him. I'm about to quit the game due to frustration.

Yeah, it took me a while to figure that out as well. You have to mainly shoot him, since he mostly dodges your launch attacks. It is kind of silly since it is ability you just recently got, but than it doesn't actually work well against the boss.

Launch works fine against that boss and all the other flying enemies in the game, you just have to do it twice in a row to hit them after they dodge the first time.

If it comes to quitting entirely, please try the masterful Fling trainers, free and safe.
A pity if you don't finish the story, the lore is excellent.

No need for a trainer at all, Control has some build in, just look under the Assist Mode. This is the first game ever which I played that has an inbuild god modus, which says a lot about how the difficulty assessment must have failed completely and they didn't even bother to rebalance the game! No wonder this was a huge flop if I remember correctly...

A Plague Tale Innocence and Alan Wake have a thing in common. It's a world / an environment so beautiful and believable that it almost feels like an open world game, but imo even better. There's a beautiful mystery in seeing something interesting in the distance -- like a radio tower or waterfall in case of Alan Wake, or a windmill or old ruins in Plague -- that you can't reach, but is there in almost painting-like fashion. It gives me an almost in love / lovesick feeling of awe in those games.

In an open world game you can just run there, find some random loot and an enemy and there goes the mystique...

Excellent Wesp5 ! *as always man, undying gratitude for VTMBL Wideeyed *

Anyway, if yet fustrated with any aspect of the game, Fling offers a pletora of choices ( even if I still use C.E. to tweak things not contemplated )

I'd love a firstperson option, especially with a texture quality upgrade.
I wonder what the choice next-generation upgrades will be?

I'm not happy but not surprised by the Epic exclusivity for pc. Remedy gets a guaranteed payday that way. They did the same for Control.

I can wait it out. Maybe even end up getting it for free like I did with Control.

I admire people who can play those types games in VR. I don't think I would have the nerve to do it.

Just watching WaB avoid Jeff in HL Alex was tense enough.

Just have Friends play on the TV in the background. Whenever it gets too scary just tune into Chandler's next joke.
