The comments given by John Gibson are of his own opinion, and do not reflect those of Tripwire Interactive as a company. His comments disregarded the values of our whole team, our partners and much of our broader community. Our leadership team at Tripwire are deeply sorry and are unified in our commitment to take swift action and to foster a more positive environment.
Effective immediately, John Gibson has stepped down as CEO of Tripwire Interactive. Co-founding member and current Vice President, Alan Wilson, will take over as interim CEO. Alan has been with the company since its formation in 2005 and is an active lead in both the studio’s business and developmental affairs. Alan will work with the rest of the Tripwire leadership team to take steps with employees and partners to address their concerns including executing a company-wide town hall meeting and promoting open dialogue with Tripwire leadership and all employees. His understanding of both the company’s culture and the creative vision of our games will carry the team through this transition, with full support from the other Tripwire leaders.
has been replaced by interim CEO Andrew Wilson

I don't disagree if you're going to flaunt your politics and/or religion there may be consequences to your business for that. However, why aren't all these woke companies cutting ties with the major corps that donate to both the Dems and GOP in that case? It's way easier punching down isn't it? It's just more virtue signalling than taking a real stand.

i dig that i live in a time where people(and their families) get fired from their long standing careers and their lives deleted from society because they share an opinion or belief on a subject no matter how silly or uninformed. This is typically how humans operate in order to grow and we're displaying zero patience or compassion for our own flaws. This rigid horseshit will destroy us.

Well written, but beware a shit storm may just be about to flood you.![]()
In any case...it is unfortunately that these people cannot resist the urge to post about everything on social media. I'm glad I'm too old to be caught up in this kind of foolishness. I put my foot in my mouth enough in my personal life that I really don't need to showcase myself having my foot down my throat for the world to see.
How does anyone get to be the head of a company and not know this.
Keep your mouth shut and run every public facing social media post past your legal and hr departments.
His dismissal was not even close to being "cancel cultured".
I'm sure the regular suspects will be a long claiming how he's a victim of woke or sjw bullshit. It's inevitable.
What I don't get is the people who scream from the clouds about freedom of speech this and that - don't seem to understand how freedom of speech is supposed to work. He has every right to say whatever he wants, wherever he wants. But as is the case with many things in life, he is not free from the consequences of what he says. And this is one of those consequences. Not to mention, Twitter is not the United States. It's a private company (or is it public, I don't even know anymore) etc. He may not live in the US where his speech is protected (again not from consequence though.)
And this constant bullshit about cancel culture drives me up a wall. Unless the person being "cancelled" is DEAD (and since everyone these days is so sensitive to everything, I am not calling for people to be killed or anything like that), how are they being cancelled? Because Twitter banned them or they can't post on whatever social media? That's not cancelled, since one can simply you know - talk to people the "normal" way still. GASP!

I know a lot of people are angry he stepped down, dealing with "freedom" and such.
However, he was the public face of the company, as every CEO is. He can say he was speaking for himself, not the company, but when you're CEO, that's never true. You're always that CEO, especially when you're posting on a twitter profile in which your profile says you're CEO, and the bulk of your posts are related to your job.
Part of the responsibility that comes with that job, and the salary, is not damaging the company. As soon as you say something heavily controversial, particularly one about removing rights and putting a bounty on the heads of many of your employees and consumers, you've stepped beyond your unofficial duties as CEO, potentially violated your fiduciary duties, and have moved into a space where you're now a distraction and no longer capable of doing your job of leading.
People weirdly downplay the detriment of being a distraction. Why is Cam Newton currently unemployed? He's not even putting out controversial opinions, he's just a distraction. Why did Jamie Tartt find it so hard to find a new job despite being one of the best premier league players? Because he was a distraction.
No one wants to deal with a distraction, so distractions get shown the door.
