it's simply stupid for anyone to think we have any privacy in any of our electronic activity any more.

short of laws that explicitly forbid harvesting of our activity and the inclusion of backdoors we never will.

Seeing that WE have become the product and that entire industries now rely on spying on us and that this privatised spying has been leveraged to get around what laws there were in place (TURBULENT and TURMOIL programs for example where they harvest ALL of our internet traffic, inject malware into our systems through modifying traffic, and using the malware they injected they harvest data that we hold on our computers that we never intend to transmit or store on the internet - and then claim that unless they retrieve that data from their data store it doesn't count as surveillance) we're essentially fucked.

As revealed by Wikileaks, the NSA/CIA have been keeping the malware injection vectors (ie, flaws in software we use) secret so that TURBULENT and TURMOIL can continue to use them, instead of being responsible and advising vendors of them - pretending that these vectors aren't usable by other bad actors and aren't a security risk to all.

Even when we have companies attempting to provide us services like Proton mail, there's always something that can be used to force them to capitulate and comply.
Thanks for posting on this, otherwise I would have missed the other ProtonMail link.
