It's easy to forget because of the name, but womp rats are two METERS large, like the size of wolves and just as nasty in feral packs... They'd roam around destroying farm equipment and attacking people, so of course they were hunted.

That's how dear old dad started going over to the dark side. Unless it was pest control because the womp rats were getting into the moisture vaporators. Still, that would be pretty irresponsible shooting lasers around technology like that. Then again, he did blow up the Death Star and nary a single thought or tear for all the (sub)contractors used on the thing that him and his precious Rebellion murdered.
Wow, that was an interesting short doc. I'd never heard of that incident before. As always it reconfirms my complete conviction in the stupidity and irresponsibility of most people. Glowing blue substance found in scientific machine in cancer treatment lab and not a one of them thought, 'Hrm, manhandling this may not be the best idea.'
