I'm surprised it's still a game studio and not a registered religion... the faithful will follow demigod Roberts anywhere, and he's missing out on some BIG tax breaks.

It is absolutely bizarre they haven't been able to put out a game in all of this time. Good management would have frozen the game features at least a year ago (why not two years ago?) and then released a polished game. Then they could work on an expansion for these added things--which people would eagerly buy if the first game turned out well. Feature-creep can poison any game--poor management is to blame, imo. SC seems to be headed nowhere atm.

This game has been a shit show since he kept feature creeping it to death and then added the FPS mode that no one really wanted yet. What people wanted was a completed Space Combat Sim, and what we got were broken promises on top of even more broken promises. In the end result has been very lacking.

For many years I despaired at the sad state of the space sim genre. It is a truly cursed genre. Star Citizen is an abomination and Elite: Dangerous isn't much better. There weren't any other serious efforts and indie titles were invariably crap.

Then Star Wars: Squadrons came along and, while it left much to be desired, it was still the best space sim in ages.

Then came Everspace 2. I tried the new demo linked here a little while ago and was really surprised. It's fun! A fun space sim? Beautiful, with polished mechanics and an interesting story? I must be dreaming. I immediately plonked down the $$$ and burned through all of the content available so far in the EA version. Looking forward to what comes next.

Oh yeah? That's awesome, I liked the actual gameplay of Everspace 1, just not the rogue-lite wannabe aspect of it. I have had Everspace 2 on my wishlist, I'll probably pick it up post retail release, unless there is a sale before then; but good to hear that it's coming along nicely!

I hope it's never finished.

The real game could never be as entertaining as watching the idiot fanboys cry.

I find it more distressing that you think adults ASK for birthday presents Or celebrate getting older for that matter... because that is for SURE not something to celebrate ;p

Getting full immunization from Covid-19 (however long it might last), now THAT is grounds for celebration and gifts ;p

That said I still think I will need a historian to find my backer details once this ever releases.
