CDPR Hires Modders for Cyberpunk 2077 Support

A post on reddit shares a Discord announcement saying that a team of Cyberpunk 2077 modders has been hired by CD PROJEKT RED to work on the backend for the action/RPG as well as modification support. Here's word from Traderain:
Hey @everyone,
We are extremely pleased to announce that @Blumster, @Nightmarea, @rfuzzo and I will be joining CDPR under my and @Nightmarea's company (https://yigsoft.dev/). We will be working on various projects related to the Cyberpunk 2077 backend and the game's modding support
We are really excited for this and we really hope we can help to bring Cyberpunk 2077 to the next level!

@Bishi
I typed in a hurry. I deeply apologize if my spelling errors hurt your feelings. I hope you can recover. I'm not mad at games. Why not play outside for a bit? Might improve your mood.

In fairness CDPR had a pretty good reputation on the whole. Give the scope of their games one could rightfully assume there were going to be a good deal of bugs and issues at launch. Not all the time in the world in QA would ever have them perfect to go out of the gate. They dropped the ball big time with this one however.

Eh they have a pretty good reputation with post-product support but at launch their games have been universally fucked up. Witcher 1-3 all had huge problems out of the gate and required extensive patching and additions. I agree though that they really pushed it too far with this game - trying to support the older gen consoles was a huge mistake.

There are ways to get them. Like getting in line at evga (It will take a while though). Or Best Buy has had two recent things in last few months where they ship a chunk to every store and sell as MSRP on a certain day they announce. You do have to camp out overnight to get those, but if you want it enough...
There's also a twitch channel that runs some stuff to check stock on pretty much all online retailers, so you can try jumping on that.

CP2077 is a great game. Unfortunately it was released unfinished. If it was released to early access first, all of these arguments about how "shitty" and "broken" it was would be moot.
They would have never done that because they were trying to avoid spoilers. Probably they should have though. Or had some rounds of closed beta testing with outside people.

Best Buy to a small % of stores and now it seems you need to be in like around 12 hours early, we'll have to see how long it is next time.
It’s still a shitshow with supply. Here’s a blue’ser that waited all night for a card at a Best Buy last week.

I have no idea where CDPR had any reputation for them to ruin, or why people had such high expectations from them. I guess just the absolute mental derangement of the "Witcher 3 is the best game of all time" morons. Like Simon and RogueSix said, all three Witcher games released broke as fuck and not remotely as playable as they were eventually made.

I can understand expecting a better narrative from CDPR, but better production, or well-designed and balanced gameplay? They couldn't have done less to set that expectation, given their history.

People seem to have forgotten the absolute shitshow that was The Witcher 3 at release, and W2 at release wasn't that much better either.
Both had to get patched heavily to bring them to their current status.

I kinda saw it coming... It has become a habit for them it seems.

Exactly. First Witcher, too. The first two Witchers were very incomplete at release but CD Projekt marketing successfully sold the patch orgies as 'Enhanced Editions' (not completely unlike today's "games as a service"). The Witcher 3 received over 20 patches. Many of them with hundreds of fixes.

I learned my lesson and stopped preordering or buying on release after the second Witcher. I got the GOTY of the Witcher 3 and the plan is to do the same with Cyberpunk in a couple of years. I'm sure that Cyberpunk will be a really decent game once they are done with the patches and expansions. Why play an inferior version now? My backlog will easily keep me entertained until CD Projekt (and the modders) are done.

This Exactly! Pet peev of mine. In the last two years, the only game I've played that actually felt finished on release was Last of Us 2. I remember Quake 2 running as smooth as butter way back when, but lately, shooters are loosing my interest due to jittering and frame hitching.

Losing. My pet peeve. If it's stuttering (jitter implies its network not graphics or game related) or frame-hitching (microstutters) then it generally implies a problem at your end via hardware drivers or software issues. I think you just need to stop getting mad at games and clean your shit up.

The game is fine but its a shadow of what it could have and should have been if you'd believe the hype. Bringing modders on-board is the best thing they could have done.

i paid full price on gog release day because i dig supporting good work. I continue to wait to play the actual game.

admittedly my love for cdpr has waned a bit..

Sorry, but stop waiting and play it, the game has been updated and patched and very playable

I still have to wait.

My poor i7 7700, gtx 1070 machine struggles to play the game at a solid 60 fps at 1080p, even on all low settings.
Ive had the money to upgrade to a 3080 since it was launched, (900ish), but well, its not like you can find them, and when you do, they are a LOT more than just 900.

Nah, these modders are professional level and care about the game. They literally developed tools to help make modding possible.
CDPR obviously delayed release until they hit a deadline they could not legally avoid (publisher, funding or bonus are my best guesses).
They are far, far from giving up and they have even started openly talking about multiplayer again.
They've got a massive long term hit, and they know it. I've played it several times, and it's clear the story is far from over.
There are reports 50% of the game was cut to make a release. I'm extremely excited to see what's next.
Remember the main issue was consoles and that was a legally binding issue and why they had to address it first.

This will test some theories of mine.

One is a game really needs mod tools from the start of like within the first week and the tools should have been in mods hands before release. The theory is, while this is a good move is it too late to matter?

That said if they are use for future products and adhere to the above, this will be good news.

Bethesda gets at least one thing right and that is mod support from the start, it matters imo.

Also this could look like "they can fix what we can't", you know what we say about Bethesda.

We'll see...
