The answer is 12. 12 hard solid inches of porn.

Ok.. at what point in your 30+ years as an adult is it ok to 1) still be living with your parents

Depends on the CULT-ure. For example in the early 1900s and before, it was the other way around, there were taboos about abandoning the house because it went against the value system at the time.

Very true. Point-in-fact, multi-generational homes around the world are the rule, not the exception. And as poverty increases and affordable living decreases it's going to come back here as well. If you don't make the money or have access to generational wealth why would you waste 1/2 - or over - of your income on renting some shithole and making someone else richer if you can live with family? And that says nothing about the problems centered around retirement, especially if you end up living a long time.

For some ( not targeting anyone here ) the answer will always be "You shouldn't even watch porn" or ZERO/least possible amount.
Well... some people say you shouldn't consume caffeine, chocolate, or alcohol -- f*ck that nonsense. Porn (assuming it is made responsibly by consenting adults) is neither good or bad. Although, as with anything, moderation is always a good idea.

That's fucked up bring any porn to your folks place. He sounds like a real piece of work...which is the result of his parents anyway so it sounds like the deserve each other.

Wonder if the porn was the cause of the divorce?

that IS a lot of porn to stash, even if you're single. a dozen boxes? that's an addiction. for a married person that's inexcusable.
I'll bite.
How much porn is acceptable for a single or married person to have.
What size boxes are we going to use for measurement purposes.
If you're going to go that route you might as well limit how many videos of each type of category is allowed.
Does it make a difference if the porn is not in box form? What if it's all on 4 10tb hdd's.
Of course the sex toys can't properly be stored in digital format so once again we're back to boxes for those items.
They don't mention Lube but none of this is any good without it so should it be ounce / gallon limited?

Depends on the CULT-ure. For example in the early 1900s and before, it was the other way around, there were taboos about abandoning the house because it went against the value system at the time.

Then culture shifted around 1929's great depression and some taboos have reversed to serve the new value system centered around "the economy".

If one let's their decisions be blindly dictated by cult'ish taboos, whichever they may be, one might as well be living back in the Dark Ages blindly cheering on the Spanish inquisition as far as I'm concerned.

Edit: Meaning that if people don't bother replacing taboos in a historical/sociological/anthropological context, the only reason they're cheering on some taboos over others is their birth time/place and group pressure/indoctrination, and not because of their freely chosen choices.

And yes, I have a pet peeve about taboos and dogmas in general. After analysis, most of them are just bullshit we tell ourselves based on some faith/belief, and moving from religion to culture as a way to unconsciously "tribalize" ourselves ( in the in-group/out-group sense of "belonging" in sociological mechanics characterizing "peer pressure" in combination with cultural indoctrination since birth ) hasn't made us immune to them.

Sometimes I think it has just made it worse on some levels, because most people don't understand that cultures are simply cult'ish systems of values that have grown large/powerful enough to not be called cults anymore and are just as potentially dangerous as religions, whereas they at least have some concept that religions can be dangerous. And it seems the etymology of the word "culture" agrees with that statement.

Obviously the collection was from his marriage and doesn't matter what his parents think.
You don't magically get a porn collection worth 30k while staying at your parents house, after a divorce.

Eh, the keyword is "potentially".

I can burn a disc of La Blue Girl and slap a sleeve liner in the jewel case with art depicting what might look like a teenage girl sucking on a giant demon's cock. Doesn't mean what is on the disc is child porn.

Until the material has been reviewed and its contents factually discerned, I give a big ole fat "meh" to the pearl clutching and insinuation by the lawyer.

I'm cynical as of late since "child porn" has been the knee jerk, emotional button pushing for all manner of heinous actions and insinuations that have little, if nothing, to do with the actual production, distribution, and consumption of CSAM.

Everything about this story is depressing as hell.

Still, why destroy your family member's property? Even if it is some fucking pornography? Stupid parents. Depressing guy in a shit situation. I'd hazard that the massive porn collection played a part in him getting divorced, but who knows.

*EDIT* HOLY FUCK, link in that link: guess his parents were trying to keep him out of prison. I strike my earlier remarks about the parents. Now this story is 20 times more depressing and infuriating. Silly me assuming it was just vintage 80s 90s porn.

Nothing like a curated collection of pornography and sexy time toys to get a rise out of some folks.
