Control Hits 10M Players; Multiple Remedy Projects Progressing

New financial reporting Remedy Entertainment is now online, offering the latest results from the Finnish developer. The headline is: "Remedy drives growth with moves towards publishing and new games." As noted on Wccftech, the report says Crossfire’s HD story mode and CrossfireX are still expected this year and that Control has now been played by over 10 million players. Word is development is moving forward on other projects as well:
Control has already reached a formidable audience, having been played by over 10 million players. The growing audience and brand awareness are valuable as we continue to support Control and develop Condor, and we are in the early conception phase for a future, bigger-budget Control game.

We have a small Crossfire team focusing on supporting the upcoming launches of Crossfire’s HD story mode and CrossfireX. We expect these launches to happen later this year. Crossfire’s HD multiplayer mode was already launched in China by Smilegate and Tencent in June.

Remedy’s AAA game project with Epic Games has moved into full production, and a second, smaller-scale game remains in full production mode. Vanguard, our free-to-play co-op game project, is still progressing at a good pace, with selected internal and external closed gameplay tests.

Great thanks for reminding me that I still have Control to finish along with Mad Max and several dozens of other games in my backlog that I have yet to install.

Well I suppose its lucky for me that they have a shelf life so I can throw out the ones with expired dates. Now if I can just locate those expiration date stickers... Wacky

I really enjoyed Control. The Jedi like combat was fun to play around with and seemed natural. I'm not sure how to explain it but the graphics kept impressing me even though it's just office buildings for most part. I didn't even run it with an RTX capable card.

The story reminded me heavily of the old SciFi show Warehouse 13 with the artifacts or whatever they are called. Just super weird fun.

I play maybe 1 new game a year. Now that multiplayer is meaningless to me, there's always time to grab something down the road.

Plus, I also fit into the "old shoe" phase, where sometimes I want to play a strategy game I loved.

The Far Cry games were play-new until 5, the id software FPS games have become play new again (I love the new Dooms and Wolfensteins), and a new XCOM would be play new. Maybe something that happens to be exactly what I want right now, like the TH remaster. Anything else? I'll get to it in 2-5 years. Probably. Maybe. You never know...

Mad Max and Control are both awesome games.

I've replayed both numerous times.

By the time it hit Steam I really did not give a damn about it. Same with The Outer Worlds.
Games have a shelf life. If you don't play them within six months of launch, they get all stale and moldy.
they have an expiration date don’t you know.
Now that I have a system that can play games at high graphics settings with acceptable frame rates it is loaded up with Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, Control, Mad Max, Far Cry 5, Prey, Outer Worlds and more.
Some of them I got free, others at a huge discount and all of them are as patched as they’re going to get.
So by being patient and waiting you end up with a better product that’s cheaper.
I get the thrill of the new car smell but a 2000 model sitting on a lot on January 1 2000 is still a 2000 model sitting on the lot on December 25, 2000. And if there’d been any recalls during that time for airbags, brakes or leaky gas lines the car you get in December is just that much better (and it still has that new car smell.)

We both don't really understand this phenomenon, but we both expect it has something to do with free time. Or lack thereof. Somehow.

Personality quirks I guess.
I have the old shoe syndrome instead.
Find myself accustomed or endeared to games I replay or restart.
Games I felt so so about, I recognize as an old acquaintance and feel comfortable, enjoying them more.

The thing I seem to recall with this game is when it came out there was an issue with the interface for controlling (see, what I did there?) the game's avatar. It was less than optimal. Or am I confusing it with another game? Assuming there was an issue, was it fixed?

You didn't miss much. I hated control and it's generic gameplay. And I didn't even end The Outer Worlds.
What's a game with good/best gameplay?

Nice work WannaLogAlready, that's a pretty low bar for Control to step over. Aamof the only weak link in Control was epic.
Control excelled at innovation, visuals, drama, horror, humor, acting, story and gameplay.

Well... they are both single player games, you can start them whenever. It's not like it was a multiplayer only game, that you'd be behind by a year.

Control is an excellent game. I probably would have felt I had gotten my money's worth out of it, even at full price, although I did get it on a pretty decent sale on GoG, for the complete version or whatever it's called.

I need to go back and play their previous game, post Alan Wake; I am reasonably sure I have it on Steam from yet another sale.
