I did the Atari pc chain back then from 800's up through the ST line, it was basically the foundation that set off a 30 year career so far. 800's were about $1000 when released, it was them or Apple 2's. Apples were more expensive. IMO all these pc's during the 80's were pretty close to one another power wise.

i dont think ive ever downloaded an abandonware rom that I havent purchased previously. i ditched my amaga games in the bin during a large move late 90s, the hardware went some years before.

I will play abandonware, I do, with care.
I own 1800 games on Steam, growing.
I'll never play/replay most of them, but, that availability choice is magic to me.
Also trying to repay games studios for quality time given, now or decades ago, even if X company swallowed them, posting a good review, spreading the word ...
So if a game is not abandonware anymore, I'll buy it, even if it wasn't buyable when I played it.
Within reason of course, not if it was a turd

I'm guessing a Kickstart disk is similar to a BIOS.
I never had a commodore or amiga.

As for the device, I don't see it being popular for people beyond owners of the original consoles or for extreme nostalgiac's.

I will say the games with this so far aren’t the best - Zool 2 was much better than the fist game. And, there are a million other games I’d prefer to be playing than those in this list… but Chaos Engine and Speedball 2 are classics!

I don't think Mini Amiga will be successful.
Too old a system except for us dinosaurs.
Also Emulators that work much better, have save states anywhere, cheats easily obtainable with Cheat Engine (try advancing far on Zool without, haha), and tons of games, FREE.
Because no matter how many games come with this system, or will, there are hundreds of other games.
Would I forsake them on the chance that someone will re-publish them some day (hint, never happened).
No sir, I will play them.

Can I recreate the CGI from "Babylon 5" on it?

+1 for the Amiga love. I had a 500, added RAM and a 2nd floppy drive (luxury!) All worth it just for Speedball 2, with a digital joystick. Permanently injured my thumb and never regretted it. I'll pass this time, and just watch You Tube vids.

Wow. This is a done deal if there is any way to sideload software easily. I would kill to still have my Amiga 1000. Nothing screams old school garage era tech like having Pink Floyd lyrics etched on the motherboard by the manufacturer.

That said, Simon the Sorcerer and Chaos Engine are classics, and Zool, Alien Breed and Battle Chess are all right.
