With all the hacking lately, I wouldn't be surprised if the open source culture is on its way out. I know it would be hard to believe, but I think you'd be surprised by how many companies are starting to reduce their open source packages (particularly "Linux as a desktop" and the node.js ecosystem)

The end of open source?

Well...shit.

Oddly enough, though, none of my Fedora systems (workstation and server) or my Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers have a package update that addresses this.Moreover, it didn't show up in the logs as having been automatically applied last night/early this morning, either.
