It appears to me this is a "performative lawsuit," meaning it's for PR purposes, not legal purposes. So getting the word out is part of the "strategy," such as it is. He's trying to say "I'm innocent, and I'm fighting to defend myself." However, these kinds of lawsuits are really hard to win, and it's hard to see this coming out in favor for him. But perhaps he believes this necessary for him to "clear" his name. Also, it's a court case, so it's impossible to completely predict the outcome.

Reading the complaint, it appears that he's suing the people that amplified Kelly and Karissa's comments? Not that there were 100 different incidents.

Karissa Barrows and Kelly Bristol are perhaps unwitting puppets being manipulated by this horde of the anonymous, 100 angry women who obviously loathe Avellone so much that they are completely unwilling to say a word about him or to even state their names for the record! No doubt, Avellone has deduced their existence all on his own, without a shred of empirical evidence to guide him! Aside, of course, from the knowledge that two defendants for whom he does have names are not likely to have conceived this nefarious plot against him without the help of the 100 vicious Jane Does! Yes, yes...it's all so obvious.

Isn't this an accusation in itself? Shouldn't you be providing evidence? Here, I'll start by providing counter-evidence: Chris Avellone is a game writer. He is unlikely to be particularly wealthy, and thus not a juicy target for gold diggers. Also I only just skimmed his lawsuit, but he doesn't seem to make any claims about these individuals being financially motivated.

As a whole, I am a believe the women claims kind of man by default in most every case I read about, as they in the vast amount of cases do seem genuine. However in a few cases something does not add up to me and is the statistical 1 in 20 sexual assault allegations are false category. This in teetering on that to me. Some of the facts he presented give me pause such as; her going on a twitter delete storm after the fact, trying to remove any positive mentions of chris, several photos of them together clearly hanging out again after the alleged assault, the jealousy/bitterness of her friend with a guy she passed on and then acting out irrationally isn't unheard of, her seemingly dropped her 'bombshell' late fri as a tactic to cause the most damage, chaos for him and then egging and congratulating those companies on the socials who dropped him. Comes off as very pretty and immature at best.

I find it less about a assault and more a sloppy organized petty hit job when looking at all these bits of data combined. I could be wrong, and he could have done everything that is claimed, I am not closing to that as a potential valid truth. But for now, looking at everything as a whole, something just isn't adding up to me on her end. I WANT to believe her but having difficulty at this point doing so.

In '89 i was falsely accused of rape, then days later was beaten by vigilante's until i had multiple severe head injuries. The system ( cops, judges, community, family ) in NZ called them the heroes and me the monster. I was an adolescent male so did not give up on life, but within 5 years the brain damage and trauma had broken me. The closest thing i ever will have to justice is seeing the country that did this to me starting to die. And its happening - at long last!
