the stats on their own are worthless. What is the age range of participants vs underlying issues? We had someone in our village die from Covid complications, he was double vaccinated (pfizer). He was also 81 and had lung issues from being a miner (he was on oxygen). But since his covid test was a technical positive, it wasnt his crappy lungs that was the final blow but covid.
https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(21)01358-1/fulltext The lancet has some good stats but doesnt declare the full age ranges. You could be a champion athlete or a 90yo with emphysema.
If deaths are to be believed then technically we arent doing too bad. Quite a high rate of delta variants, hospital admissions not rising at the same rate, deaths not rising at all and mostly single figures for the last 3 weeks. Almost everyone I know is double AZ vaccinated so far (I got AZ for both of mine). I know one person who is PF/AZ and a few PF.
I do have one source - a family member is a radiographer at a very busy outer london hospital. They chest xray every suspected case so they are as covid front line as you get. Admissions are not spiking in their hospital and deaths are non existant. To put it into perspective, last year was 14 hour days for 3 months for them with beds at critical (after discharging all who could be and cancelling scheduled).
Our schools are testing (LFT not PCR) twice weekly for all staff and pupils, zero cases so far in our village school, zero in the local high school (10 miles away).

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
